Over three days, 22–24 September, you joined in the Community Hub Initiative to explore what our community needs in relation to a new community centre. You answered with memories, visions, food and heart.

Seven functions of this community lifeblood arose:

💛 Nourishment – ways to eat together
💛 Community living room – creating a feeling of home
💛 Welcome – a place for all to be received
💛 Celebration – flexible, pop-up, joyful
💛 Contributing – working together
💛 Children and generations – safe and supportive place for all generations
💛 Receptive stage – for art, creativity, and more

What’s next? The Moray Art Centre will act as a bridge: a place to start gathering again while planning begins for a new community centre, built together and in stages. “Our first realization came about the importance of trees when we had a very strong northerly wind which swept through the garden and did a lot of damage.

I realized that we needed a shelter belt of trees. This would be around 1964 right at the beginning when the first garden was created.”
