It was great to spend time with Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Harv Smyth, and members of the RAF Senior Leadership Team when they visited RAF Leeming.

As well as chatting with the Whole Force over lunch, the visitors provided an update on the latest developments within the Service and answered questions from personnel.

As summer starts to fade and our sporting focus moves indoors, RAF Leeming personnel stepped up to the oche in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

What began as a challenge to score 100,000 points quickly grew into an impressive effort to reach 300,000 points, achieved by 15 personnel determined to make a difference. Inspired by CPL Goodfellow and dedicated in memory of a fellow Service person's family member, the darts challenge raised an outstanding £860.

With 11 maximum 180s, plenty of friendly rivalry and a fantastic team spirit throughout, the challenge brought people together from across the Station and beyond in support of an important cause.

A huge well done to everyone who took part and a sincere thank you to all those who donated so generously. Your support has helped raise valuable funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and will make a real difference to those affected.

A warm welcome to the newest members of the Capita Fire and Rescue team here at RAF Leeming – Firefighter Jordan, Firefighter Elliot and Firefighter Tom.

Station Manager David Bond attended their pass out parade at the Fire Service College last week to mark the successful completion of their training and the continuation of their firefighting careers.

FF Jordan will certainly feel at home at RAF Leeming, with a family connection already on station, as dad Watch Manager Rob is part of the team.

Congratulations to all three firefighters on this important achievement. We wish them every success as they begin their careers serving the RAF Leeming community.

RAF Leeming will soon be entering a period of exercise hosting, during which there will be additional jet and helicopter movement. The local community can expect increased flying from 20 August to 2 October - including some night flying.

We understand that Exercises can cause disturbance to the local community, and endeavour to minimise low and late flying in particular.

It might be looking a bit parched out there, but during National Allotment Week, we’re celebrating the little piece of heaven that is the Station polytunnel.
From strawberries to tomatoes, flowers to veg, seedlings have been nurtured into bloom through heatwaves and soaring temperatures. Great growth all round! 🌸🥒🌱

It's not every day that you get to spend time with an icon of film and TV, so a trip on the Tornado steam locomotive through beautiful Yorkshire sunshine was a real treat for personnel and their families.

Officially named by the then Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall in 2009 and bearing RAF Leeming's badge, Tornado was completed by the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust in 2008. The first main line steam locomotive built in the UK since 1961 and the first to reach 100mph since the 1960s, Tornado It has since appeared in Paddington 2 and Top Gear.

It was a huge treat for personnel to enjoy time with this magnificent machine between Pickering and Grosmont. Thank you so much to the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust for offering such a special and memorable day.
