To mark 150 years of Saltwell Park, our gardening team has brought back a traditional carpet bed display for the first time in many years. 🪷

Created through the skills and dedication of both experienced staff and our talented horticulture apprentices, the display celebrates the park's rich heritage while helping to develop the next generation of gardeners. 👏

We think it looks fantastic and we hope it's a feature visitors can enjoy for years to come. 💚

This is Reform UK’s vetting crisis in black and white.

Glenn Gibbins, a Reform UK councillor elected to Sunderland City Council in May, has now been charged with posting a grossly offensive message on social media.

The alleged post reportedly referenced the Nigerian community. Northumbria Police investigated after a report was made in May, submitted a file to the Crown Prosecution Service, and a charge has now been authorised.

This is the same councillor who was previously suspended by Reform after allegations of racist social media posts, then later brought back into the party with a final written warning.

People across our communities deserve better than this.

They deserve councillors who bring people together, not representatives caught up in racism rows, suspensions, reinstatements and court cases.

This is what happens when a party chases headlines but fails to properly vet the people it puts forward for public office.

Glenn Gibbins has not been convicted, and the legal process must now take its course. But politically, the question for Reform is simple:

Why was someone with this record of reported comments ever allowed back into the party in the first place?
