Council officers advise that a sinkhole has been found on Joicey Road.

It has been made safe and traffic management is in place.

The section between East Park Road and Durham Road has had to be closed to ensure safety.

Investigations are ongoing to identify the cause of the sink hole, and determine a solution. Officers will keep us informed on their progress and we will provide residents with further updates as we receive them.

UPDATE | Three people have been charged with murder following the death of a man in Newcastle.

📍Shortly after 7.25pm on Tuesday (June 16), police were made aware of a suspected assault on Shields Road in the Byker area.

Emergency services attended the scene and a man –25-year-old Gino Robb from Newcastle – was found to have sustained serious injuries consistent with being caused by a bladed article.

He was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries but sadly died a short time later. His family continue to be supported by officers.

Following the report, two men aged 22 and 24, and a boy aged 16 were arrested on suspicion of murder. They have all been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Three more people — two men aged 40 and 33 and a 16-year-old boy — were later arrested in the Walker area on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. The 40-year-old man has been released on police bail.

A further person, a 14-year-old boy, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Today (Sunday, June 21), three of those arrested – Jed Grieve, 33, of Orpington Avenue, Walker, and two boys aged 14 and 16, who we cannot identify for legal reasons – have been charged with murder. All three remain in police custody and will appear before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday, June 22).

🗣️ As part of our investigation, we are continuing to ask for information from anyone who saw two people on an electric motorbike which we believe entered Shields Road from the area of Grace Street in the minutes leading up to the incident, before then heading back along Shields Road and back into the area of Grace Street.

Did you see anything? Do you have dashcam, doorbell or mobile or CCTV footage? Please submit it to our dedicated webpage, linked in the comments 👇.

We are re-appealing for information as a murder investigation following the death of a man in Newcastle continues – with the victim in the case today named.

Shortly after 7.25pm on Tuesday, we were made aware of a suspected assault on Shields Road in the Byker area.

Emergency services attended the scene and a man – who can today be named as 25-year-old Gino Robb from Newcastle – was found to have sustained serious injuries consistent with being caused by a bladed article.

He was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries but sadly died a short time later. His next of kin are aware and continue to be supported by officers.

We immediately launched a murder investigation and two men aged 24 and 22, and a boy aged 16 were arrested on suspicion of murder. They have since been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.

A further three people – two men aged 40 and 33, and a boy aged 16 – were later arrested in the Walker area on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. The 40-year-old man has been released on police bail while the 33-year-old man and the 16-year-old boy remain in police custody.

We remain in the Byker and Walker areas to carry out further enquiries and reassure the community at what has understandably been an unsettling time.

As part of our investigation, we are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw two people on an electric motorbike which we believe entered Shields Road from the area of Grace Street in the minutes leading up to the incident, before then heading back along Shields Road and back into the area of Grace Street.

We would also like to hear from those with CCTV, dashcam footage or mobile phone footage of these areas at around that time.
