The River Stinchar is one of the most productive salmon fishing rivers in Ayrshire and has some excellent fly fishing water. The river is a relatively short spate river, rising in the Carrick Forest in the north of the Galloway Forest Park. Its source is less than a mile away from that of its neighbour, the river Girvan.
