Couper Institute - Public Consultation

Thanks to everyone who came along on Thursday 2nd July for the Reconnect Theatres public consultation session on the future of the Couper Institute. The proposal is to create a community theatre at the Couper Institute, as part of the People Make Glasgow Communities property leasing programme.

As part of the public consultation, Reconnect Theatres have also opened an online survey to gather the views of the public. Please complete the survey even if you attended or plan to attend one of the in-person sessions at the Couper.

Couper Institute - Public Consultation

You might remember we’d been contacted by Pete Sneddon from Reconnect Theatres earlier this year. He is proposing to create a community theatre at the Couper Institute, as part of the People Make Glasgow Communities property leasing programme.

There will now be a public consultation on this proposal, and Pete has asked us to share the attached flyer about a consultation event on Thursday 2 July from 3-5pm at the Couper. We know this is a difficult time for working people and Pete assures us there will also be other events and a survey too, but do go along on the 2nd if you are able. We’ll have some of our community councillors there too, to hear more about Pete’s ideas.

Following our latest meeting on 10th June, the new Chair's Chat blog is now available. This month Carolyn talks about our upcoming summer events schedule that we're busy organising. Let us know if there's anything else you'd like to hear about!

Although the sun seems to have misplaced his hat, we are nevertheless in the summer season, and so last week Cathcart, Merrylee and Muirend Community Council held our final meeting before the holidays. As well as checking in on our campaign for a new pitch at Merrylee Primary and the proposal from R...

Today we’re launching our new Chair’s Chat blog. After each of our Community Council meetings, our Chair Carolyn will share her reflections on what we’re up to and how people can get involved. This first blog covers the pitch at Merrylee Primary, changes at the Couper Institute and Carolyn’s deep and abiding love of local noticeboards. Let us know what you think!

I love community noticeboards. It’s a standing joke in my family that whenever we go somewhere new and spot a noticeboard, usually outside a library or town hall, I will be hopelessly drawn to it. Inevitably I’ll loiter for ages, happily perusing the latest community council minutes, adverts for...
