Our colleagues at Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service are currently tackling a fire in a field in Chipping Campden.

We're sharing their message and asking people to avoid the area as they deal with this incident, allowing emergency services to work safely.

Crews are currently in attendance at a fire in a field behind Berrington Road in Chipping Campden.

We advise people in the area to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke from the fire, and if travelling to find an alternative route while we respond. This will help reduce congestion and allow emergency services to work safely. Thank you for your cooperation.

We've arrested two men in connection with an incident in Tetbury this afternoon (Sunday 2 August).

Officers were called to a report that a man had been seen with a bladed article close to The Ferns at around 12.15pm, and a subsequent fight between two men.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident. One of the men has been taken to hospital while the other was treated at the scene.

Police are not looking for anybody else at this time.

UPDATE: Officers looking for 13-year-old Charlie, who was reported missing from Gloucester this morning, have released a CCTV image of him from earlier today.

Charlie was reported missing from the Matson area at around 4am this morning (Friday 31 July).

Officers believe that he left an address overnight. He was spotted on CCTV outside Tesco Express on Painswick Road shortly at around 5am, where it is believed he spoke to a member of the public.

He was then seen heading in the direction of Saintbridge Rugby Club before being picked up by CCTV in Gloucester city centre. He was last seen on Westgate Street at around 6am.

It is believed that Charlie is trying to travel to London as he has links to the Barking area. We are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have seen Charlie this morning to come forward.

Charlie is described as being 5ft 5in, with brown hair which is curly on top and short at the back and sides.

He is wearing a blue Nike t-shirt, a black hooded top, and black and grey jogging bottoms.

We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage which they believe could show Charlie.

We're appealing for information to help find a teenage boy who has gone missing from Gloucester.

Charlie, aged 13, was reported missing from the Matson area at around 4am this morning (Friday 31 July).

Officers believe that he left an address overnight and is trying to travel to London as he has links to the Barking area.

We're now appealing for anyone who may have seen Charlie at the Transport Hub or Gloucester Railway Station in the early hours to get in touch.

Charlie is described as being 5ft 5in, with brown hair which is curly on top and short at the back and sides.

He is wearing a blue Nike t-shirt, a black hooded top, and black and grey jogging bottoms.

Anyone with information about Charlie’s whereabouts is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 53260065813.

Police remind public to only use 999 in genuine emergencies

Gloucestershire Constabulary has experienced unprecedented levels of demand over the last two months

Police in Gloucestershire are reminding people to only use 999 in a genuine emergency after experiencing exceptionally high levels of demand over recent months.

So far in July, the Constabulary has received more than 11,000 emergency 999 calls, which is a 16% increase on July of last year (2025).

Together with 101 calls, the Force Control Room has received more than 25,000 calls this month, which is a 11% overall increase and averages more than 800 calls a day.

The increase highlights the growing demand on emergency services and the importance of keeping 999 lines free for people facing immediate danger or requiring an urgent police response.

Many of the additional calls are either non-emergency or not police matters.

Assistant Chief Constable Arman Matheson said: “It is vital that we keep police services available for those who need us most, so we’re asking people to ensure they are using the right contact methods to speak to us.

“People should use 999 in a genuine emergency, such as when there is an immediate threat to life or there is a crime is in progress, and police need to be on the scene as soon as possible.

“We need to ensure our officers and staff are available to help those who need us most, when they need us.

“For anything that is not urgent or is not happening right now, residents are encouraged to use alternative contact methods or contact a more appropriate service.

Non-emergency matters can be reported online by visiting https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/, where people can report a crime, share information, and access help, advice and support or by calling 101 which is the police non-emergency number.

Using the appropriate reporting channel helps ensure emergency operators remain available for those who need them most.

A prison sentence given to a woman who caused a collision which killed two people and seriously injured three others in 2022, has been increased under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme.

Liberty Mitchell, aged 21 and of Chipping Norton, pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and two counts of causing death by driving whilst uninsured.

At Gloucester Crown Court on Friday 13 February, she was initially sentenced to six years and eight months imprisonment and disqualified from driving for eight years and four months upon her release from prison.

Following sentencing, the Crown Prosecution Service made a request for the Attorney General's Office to review the case under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme.

The Attorney General then referred the case to the Court of Appeal.

The appeal case was heard at the Court of Appeal in London yesterday (Tuesday 28 July) and Mitchell's prison sentence was increased to nine years and three months imprisonment after it was deemed that the original sentence given in February was unduly lenient.

The Court of Appeal also increased Mitchell's driving disqualification from eight years and four months to 11 years and two months.

Sergeant Williams from the Serious Collision Investigation Team said: "Liberty Mitchell's actions on Friday 2 December 2022 have had a long lasting impact on not only the families of those involved in the collision, but also the emergency service colleagues and members of the public who had to deal with the aftermath.

"I am pleased that the concerns which were raised about Mitchell's original sentence length were listened to and that her prison sentence has been increased.

"Nothing will bring back Octavian Codreanu and Moyra Whelan or reverse the life changing injuries that several others sustained during the collision but I hope their families feel that justice has now been served."

Police had been called to the B4425 at Riversmeet North near Aldsworth shortly after 12.45pm on Friday 2 December 2022 with a report of a serious collision which involved multiple vehicles.

The collision, which took place between the Coln St Aldwyns and Eastington turnings, involved a Mini Cooper being driven by Mitchell, an Audi A3, a Polestar 2 and a Seat Leon taxi.

Emergency services attended and the driver of the taxi, Octavian Codreanu, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His passenger, school teacher Moyra Whelan, was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment and died later that day from her injuries.

Several other people were taken to hospital for treatment, and many are now living with a daily reminder of the collision after sustaining serious and life changing injuries.

Mitchell was arrested at the scene and later charged in connection with the collision.

Police investigations found that Mitchell had regularly been speeding and driving whilst using her mobile phone, despite passing her driving test less than three weeks before the collision happened.

An analysis of Mitchell’s social media found that she had been filming Snapchat videos whilst behind the wheel.

These videos showed Mitchell’s lack of care for driving safely, with one showing her driving at 100 miles per hour on a county road and another showing her veering onto the opposite side of the road towards an oncoming car as friends shouted for her to stop.

A 40-year-old man who was wanted by police has been arrested.

Earlier this week we had issued an appeal to locate Benjamin Clarke from Newnham who was wanted on warrant for failing to appear at court.

Clarke was arrested by West Mercia Police last night (Tuesday 28 July) and remains in police custody at this time.

Officers would like to thank the public and media for sharing the appeal.

A 16-year-old boy from Cheltenham has been found guilty of murdering a man in the town last year during a robbery.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been on trial at Bristol Crown Court after pleading not guilty to the charge.

A jury rejected his claim that he acted in self-defence and found him guilty yesterday (Monday 27 July).

Hamid Erfani died after being stabbed in an alley which runs between Larput Place and St Paul’s Road in Cheltenham on the afternoon of 16 December 2025.

Both the teenager, who was 15 at the time, and another boy, aged 17, had earlier admitted to separate charges of robbing Mr Erfani and possessing a bladed article.

The court heard that the two boys did not know the victim but were aware that he dealt in drugs.

They targeted Mr Erfani in the alleyway and demanded at knifepoint that he give them the money and drugs which he had in his possession.

The victim did not put up any resistance and handed the items over. The boys also took a mobile phone.

During the trial, Charles Rowe KC for the defence said that the boy had acted in self-defence when he stabbed Mr Erfani, claiming the man had lunged for the boys after they had robbed him.

However, prosecutor Anna Vigars KC, said: “Mr Erfani had no knife on him and, other than begging [the boys] not to take his mobile, he had offered no resistance to the robbery.

“We say that that stabbing was a deliberate act done for no reason that anyone could see – an act of brutality, to reinforce the fact that [the boy] was not one to be messed with, to ensure that his name was not reported in connection with the robbery that they had just committed.”

The two boys then ran from the scene, discarding their knives as they went. The murder weapon was later found by police in bushes close to Leisure at Cheltenham.

Both boys have been remanded in custody for sentencing at Bristol Crown Court on Tuesday 8 September.

A woman has been charged in connection with a stabbing in Bishop's Cleeve.

Jaimee Saunders, aged 21 and of Minetts Avenue in Bishop's Cleeve, has been charged with section 18 wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

She has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 28 July).

The charge relates to an incident which took place near the roundabout on Evesham Road just after 10pm on Saturday night (25 July) where it was reported a man sustained a suspected stab wound. He remains in hospital and is in a stable condition.

Another woman, aged in her 50s, who was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in connection with the incident has since been released on bail with conditions.

Enquiries into the incident are continuing and investigating officers are asking the public to make contact if they have any information or footage they feel may be relevant.
