The Support Battalion of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC) is a high readiness, expeditionary, all arms unit that provides close support to Headquarters ARRC. The Battalion is a multi-capbadge unit consisting of Infanteers, Engineers, Pioneers and Logisticians combined with the full range of supporting arms. The Battalion is uniquely diverse and provides a similarly unique mix of capabilities

to support expeditionary operations. The primary role of the Battalion is to deliver Force Projection, Force Protection and Sustainment to deployed elements of the ARRC Headquarters. The Battalion is a scalable unit able to support the spectrum of possible deployment options, in order to support COMARRC and his HQ staff. In peacetime, the Battalion delivers Force Preparation and training for all elements of the HQ and wider ARRC Group and for all contributing Partner Nations. Currently consisting of 20 capbadges drawn from across the British Army, the Battalion enjoys an equally diverse schedule of activity completing basic and special to arm military training and additionally a full programme of ambitious adventurous training and sporting activity.

The handover/takeover of the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM), Gurkha ARRC Support Battalion, was successfully completed on 31 July 2026.

Ex Eliguis Khukuri was a type 2 adventure training package held within the Lake District at Low Gillerthwaite field centre.
During the multi activity week the members of the Bn experienced hill walking, climbing and mountain biking. At the end of the week a messing meal was provided by the two chefs who looked after us for the duration.

The principles of AT are exposing individuals to controlled risk, developing leadership, fostering team cohesion, developing resilience all whilst building cohesion within the Bn.

11 members of Gurkha ARRC Support Battalion took part in the Nijmegen March 2026, the world’s largest and most prestigious long-distance marching event, held in the Netherlands.

Over four demanding days, the team marched 40 km each day, demonstrating exceptional endurance, resilience, and teamwork. Successfully completing the challenge, every member earned the coveted Nijmegen Cross Medal in recognition of their outstanding achievement.

Congratulations to the team, led by Sgt Sangam Gurung and A/Sgt Resham Gurung, for their commitment, determination, and professionalism. A superb effort that reflects the highest standards of the Battalion.

Gurkha ARRC Support Battalion 5th Birthday Celebration

The Bn recently celebrated its 5th birthday in style, honouring tradition and excellence. The event featured the presentation of awards, culmination of the CO’s shield competition, a vibrant cultural showcase, and exceptional culinary work by the Catering Dept. As part of the occasion charity cheques were formally presented reflecting the Battalion’s commitment to supporting meaningful causes.

The event was expertly delivered under the leadership of Capt Bikram Thapa and WO2 Arjun Tamang.

Last week, six personnel from the Gurkha ARRC Support Battalion travelled to Abingdon to compete in the RLC’s inaugural Drone Racing Competition. After honing their skills on simulators, they took to the drone hangar to race around an indoor course.

It was a fantastic event enjoyed by all, and we look forward to grow drone racing within the unit.

Winning once is impressive. Winning twice is exceptional. Winning three times in a row is historic.

GARRC Sp Bn’s ladies volleyball team has now set a benchmark for future generations- a legacy of excellence that will inspire players across the Brigade and beyond. Their achievement at BG Bhela will be remembered as one of the proud sporting moments in the Battalion’s history.

The final match against GCS was a test of nerve. GCS pushed hard, but GARRC Sp Bn’s composure and tactical discipline proved decisive, allowing them to regain momentum and close out the match with authority.

As part of the annual cyclone training package, the Battalion deployed to Copehill Down for Ex KHUKURI WARRIOR conducting urban operations training.

The use of additional equipment such as marker rounds helped increase the realism of the exercise ensuring maximum training value.
