The Support Battalion of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC) is a high readiness, expeditionary, all arms unit that provides close support to Headquarters ARRC. The Battalion is a multi-capbadge unit consisting of Infanteers, Engineers, Pioneers and Logisticians combined with the full range of supporting arms. The Battalion is uniquely diverse and provides a similarly unique mix of capabilities

to support expeditionary operations. The primary role of the Battalion is to deliver Force Projection, Force Protection and Sustainment to deployed elements of the ARRC Headquarters. The Battalion is a scalable unit able to support the spectrum of possible deployment options, in order to support COMARRC and his HQ staff. In peacetime, the Battalion delivers Force Preparation and training for all elements of the HQ and wider ARRC Group and for all contributing Partner Nations. Currently consisting of 20 capbadges drawn from across the British Army, the Battalion enjoys an equally diverse schedule of activity completing basic and special to arm military training and additionally a full programme of ambitious adventurous training and sporting activity.

Proud to see personnel from the Battalion playing an instrumental role in enabling Exercise ARRCADE STRIKE, providing essential support to ensure this major NATO command post exercise ran effectively beneath central London.

Through force protection and real life support, alongside CIS support from 22 Sig Regt, our soldiers helped create the conditions for success, demonstrating teamwork and professionalism across the deployed force.

Mental Health Awareness Week

The Battalion Inclusion Council (BIC) hosted a successful Mental Health Awareness Day at Imjin Station Gymnasium on Fri 15 May, bringing together service personnel, civilian staff and families to focus on wellbeing, resilience and support.

From Pilates and “Grab a Brew” to informative wellbeing stands, the event encouraged positive conversations around mental health and highlighted the support available within our community.

A huge thank you to Gloucester Community Networking, Sgt Sandeep Gurung and everyone involved in making the day such a success.

RHQ QGE Official Visit to Gurkha ARRC Sp Bn

The Battalion proudly hosted RHQ QGE for the unit’s official visit on 11-12 May 2026. The visit included exchanges on unit updates, official calls, a team bonding walk in the Cotswolds, and a social gathering with RHQ QGE, all QGE SPs and their HoDs serving within the Battalion.

A key highlight of the visit was the presentation of the Commandant of the Queen’s Gurkha Engineers Coin to the following outstanding QGE SPs for their exceptional performance in the Battalion:

RAO Dept from the Battalion claimed overall victory in one of the AGC Corps’ toughest and most fiercely contested competitions, AGC Triple Crown Challenge 2026. Over the past month, 170 HQ Sqn successfully delivered Real Life Support and Force protection during Ex STEADFAST COBALT 26A, a NATO interoperability exercise focused on testing C4ISR systems and seamless integration between allied nations’ command, control, communications and IT capabilities, at Imjin Barracks.

Outstanding performance and professionalism during the exercise saw five members being formally recognised:

14 members of the GARRC Sp Bn took part in Ex WYVERN ATLAS STRIKE 26 (20 Apr - 3 May), an adventure training expedition in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains.

Over ten demanding days, the team built resilience, teamwork, and cultural understanding in a challenging environment. In addition, five members of the expedition achieved their Summer Mountain Foundation qualification.

Our sincere thanks to the Moroccan Armed Forces for their outstanding support - an excellent example of Defence engagement.

Special mention to SSgt Kulbir Sapkota Pariyar, SQMS 170 Sqn for organising the expedition.

Winner - Corps Operational Shooting Competition

Congratulations to the Gurkha ARRC Support Battalion Shooting Team on an outstanding performance at the Corps Operational Shooting Competition.

Competing against over 300 personnel across 41 teams from multiple corps, the team delivered exceptional results- securing 1st place overall alongside an impressive array of individual and team awards, most notably RLC and RE top shots.

B3 Counterbalance 18T Hyster conversion course was successfully delivered, with three soldiers from the battalion completing the training to a high standard - enhancing unit capability and contributing to wider operational effectiveness.
