Make sure emergency contact details are up to date

This summer, there are lots of exciting options to choose, from creative arts to sports, outdoor activities, science workshops, sensory play and inclusive activities for children and young people with additional needs, family days out and special ticketed attractions. To check eligibility for the programme, families can email: [email protected].

HAF Community Connectors are available across all districts to help families who may need support with booking or attending sessions. A specialist SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Community Connector can also help children and young people with additional needs benefit from the programme.

Cllr Linda Cohen, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “Our Holiday Activities and Food Programme gives children and young people the chance to take part in fun, engaging activities, enjoy healthy meals and spend time with others in a safe and supportive environment.

“We’re pleased to offer a wide range of activities again this summer, including options for children with additional needs. I encourage eligible families to take a look at what’s on offer and get ready to book activities from Monday 6 July to make the most of the support available.”

🚧 Gloucestershire County Council is advising residents and motorists of a National Highways overnight closure of the M50 westbound and the associated diversion route through Gloucester.

National Highways has announced that, due to unforeseen circumstances, previously scheduled work could not be completed and will now take place overnight on Sunday 21 June 2026 between 9pm and 6am. To carry out the work safely, the M50 westbound will be closed between M5 Junction 8 and M50 Junction 2, with a fully signed diversion route in place.

The diversion will pass through Gloucester, where works are currently taking place on Over Bridge.

Cllr. Mark Harris, cabinet member for Highways said:

“We wanted to make residents aware that we are conscious of the impact this closure may have, particularly for communities in the Forest of Dean and those travelling through Gloucester overnight.

“We know people are already experiencing disruption from a number of transport projects across the county and appreciate that any additional traffic can be frustrating. While this work is being undertaken by National Highways, we are aware that the diversion route passes through Gloucester and may result in higher than usual levels of overnight traffic.

“The fact that the closure is taking place overnight should help minimise the impact for most road users, and we are hopeful the work can be completed as planned. We would like to thank residents, businesses and motorists for their continued patience and understanding while these essential works are carried out.”

National Highways has advised that access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained where it is safe to do so and that every effort will be made to minimise disruption.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time for journeys during the closure period and to follow the signed diversion route. 🚧

For further information please visit the National Highways website or contact National Highways on [email protected] or call 0300 123 5000.
