The 2026 election is now over and it was an extraordinary privilege to stand as the SNP candidate for my home constituency.

This was my first time being a candidate for a political party and, even though it was a steep learning curve, I loved every moment of it.

Whilst it wasn't the outcome we had hoped for, I am so proud of the campaign we ran and the absolutely outstanding team I had supporting me every step of the way.

It will take too long to mention them all, and most of them are in this photo (but not all!), but you guys have been my rock and should be incredibly proud of the positive campaign we ran.

If you can forgive me for being sappy and sentimental, I have to give a shout out to my family. Without the love and unwavering support from them, I wouldn't be where I am today.

Sadly, it wasn't meant to be for me this time round but I am absolutely ecstatic that the SNP has won a historic fifth term with more seats than all the Unionist parties put together.

But fear not, you can rest assured that this won't be the last you'll be hearing from me, watch this space 😉

Top team completing a final run round Selkirk today. Encouraging to hear from so many people who have voted for John Redpath for Ettrick, Roxburgh & Berwickshire. Polls are open until 10pm, so there's still (just) time to get out and vote

Vote SNP today for real help with the cost of living.

A re-elected SNP government will cap bus fares at £2, act on essential food prices, support first-time buyers, strengthen renters’ rights and expand childcare.

Make it Both Votes SNP.

Polls are open and teams are out across the country. I'm out in Selkirk where the SNP's John Redpath for Ettrick, Roxburgh & Berwickshire stands a real chance of toppling the Tory depute leader. If you're in this part of the Borders (or anywhere else!) please remember to cast today!

Last week we launched a new Walk‑in Clinic at Hawick Community Hospital to give local patients additional access to same‑day assessment for new and urgent health concerns.

The Walk-in Clinic adds to existing GP and community health services and is designed to help patients with new, short term health problems that need timely assessment but are not emergencies.

Below is a snapshot of how the service has been used so far, including attendances, waiting times and how people were supported to access the most appropriate care for their needs.

Full details about who the walk‑in clinic is for are available here:

Last day of the campaign spent in Eyemouth with a well deserved ice cream in the sun!

Tomorrow, polls are open between 7am-10pm to make your voices heard. Use your vote to send a local lad to parliament and send a message to Westminster that enough is enough.

Fantastic to hear this, well done folks!

Fantastic to hear this, well done folks!

We are excited to share that we were approached by Jedburgh Town Team with the offer of being the lead organisation to develop plans for Jedburgh Town Hall - which we have accepted.

This means all those ideas gathered for how the Old Library could have been a community hub for activities and events now have a new home as part of this project.

It's a big thing, a multi-million pound vision. But alongside the developments with Jedburgh Swimming Pool and The Old Bakery, this could really mark a hugely positive change for the town.

We have until March 2027 to form a robust plan and we want as many people to feed into that as possible. Your first chance to speak to us is on Saturday at the Jedburgh Needs You event, which is in the Town Hall (10am-1pm). You can also become a member of Jedburgh Community Arts to really get involved!
