It is great news that Caroline Dinenage MP and Cllr Tony Jessop have been selected to sit on the Rowner Pride in Place Board.

This £20 million Pride in Place funding is a huge opportunity for Rowner, and Caroline and Tony, along with their fellow board members and co-chairs Chris and Kirsty, will be helping to steward this programme and represent residents’ views to make sure we get this right.

The funding must deliver real, lasting improvements for the community, with local people at the heart of the process.

We are delighted to announce that Cllr Lesley Meenaghan has been elected as Chair of the Housing Board as part of the new Conservative administration at Gosport Borough Council.

Back in December, under the previous administration, the Council received a C4 rating from the Social Housing Regulator, the worst possible rating. This was driven by serious concerns around housing safety compliance, property condition data, repairs oversight, tenant engagement and governance.

During the election, we promised honest leadership, value for money and a clear focus on getting the basics right. That included making fixing council housing one of our top priorities. The new Conservative administration will do everything in its power to drive the improvements council housing tenants need.

This is a problem we have inherited, but it is one we are determined to fix. Council housing tenants deserve safe, decent and properly managed homes.

We recognise the hard work council officers are already doing at pace, and the new Housing Board will support, scrutinise and challenge this work on behalf of residents.

Well done Hampshire County Council!

Please do keep an eye out for the swans! 🦢🦢

Swans on Privett Road ⚠️
Each year local swans cross Privett Road, causing the occasional traffic obstruction. Hampshire County Council has put up permanent wildfowl signs where they usually cross to keep everyone aware. Please take care when around this area and report any road issues to Hampshire Highways.

Good news for Gosport!

Conservative-run Hampshire County Council has confirmed a new Best Start Family Hub and three Network Sites for Gosport.

The Alver Valley Family Centre will become Gosport’s dedicated Best Start Family Hub. A Best Start Family Hub is essentially a one-stop shop for families, bringing together services that support children from pregnancy through the early years and beyond. This means parents can access help in one place instead of having to navigate multiple agencies and locations.

The Hub will be supported by Network Sites at Gosport Discovery Centre & Bridgemary Library and the King's Academies Gosport Community Hub helping to make services more accessible to families across our community.

This is fantastic news for local parents, carers and young children. By bringing services together and making support easier to access, we can help ensure every child has the strongest possible start in life.

Further details, including opening dates, will be announced in the coming months.

🚆 South Western Railway Timetable Changes – Have Your Say

South Western Railway and Network Rail Wessex are preparing for a full timetable refresh, with formal public consultation due to take place in autumn 2026.

Ahead of that, SWR are holding a series of in-person pre-consultation events in June so residents, passengers and stakeholders can find out more, speak to the SWR team and share views on what matters most for future rail services.
The events are:
📍 Salisbury Station
Thursday 11 June, 2pm–8pm
📍 Bournemouth Station
Saturday 13 June, 10am–2pm
📍 Guildford Station
Thursday 18 June, 2pm–8pm
📍 London Waterloo Station
Thursday 25 June, 2pm–8pm

SWR say this refresh is about making the best use of the rail network, infrastructure and staff to deliver the best possible service for the communities they serve.

This is an important opportunity for passengers to feed in early — particularly on issues such as service frequency, reliability, connections, journey times and local station needs.

Further information, including how to share your views, is available at:

I would encourage anyone who uses SWR services locally to take part and make sure our area’s voice is heard.

We’re taking the opportunity to fully refresh our network. Share your feedback to help us build a timetable fit for the future.
