We were delighted that Automist recently featured in the latest episode of Fire Safety Insights, the fire safety podcast from Ferguson.

Plumis' Yusuf Muhammad and Matt Fix sat down with Ferguson's Justin Hassell to discuss how Automist is redefining what’s possible in residential fire safety and the unique way the system is able to target fires directly, with less water.

Matt also shares his own insights on what it’s been like to install and promote Automist across Colorado, looking at real world case studies and applications of one of the most forward-thinking fire safety tools on the market today.

Automist has been selected in the Insurtech category as it is making waves in the US as a new fire protection solution that dramatically reduces both fire and water damage. It is also now an option for those with remote properties, that would have previously been uninsurable due their location being far away from the nearest fire department.

The Qorus Awards are a true showcase for global innovation, so we are delighted to see some of the work we are doing with US insurers reflected in this incredible achievement.

In a landmark moment for Plumis, we are proud to announce that Automist has achieved UL Certification, becoming the world's first targeted residential water mist fire protection system to gain third-party certification under UL2167A.

This certification for Automist represents a bold new era not just for Plumis but also for residential fire protection and follows seven years of dedicated research and development, plus an investment of over $6 million.

It also marks one of the most rigorous testing processes ever undertaken in home fire suppression, paving the way for Automist’s adoption internationally in line with the NFPA 750 standard for water mist fire protection systems.

This exciting news builds on the success of our UK product, which has already been installed in over 14,000 homes. Now the US version has the evidence to demonstrate it is fit for purpose in regions that utilise the International Fire Code.

Automist will be available in North America exclusively through Ferguson Fire & Fabrication, the largest value-added distributor for fire protection contractors and engineers.

On behalf of the whole Plumis team, we would like to say a very special thank you to everyone that has contributed to this momentous achievement, including the incredible team at UL Solutions, whom this would not have been possible without.

Although fire safety may not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Grand Designs, we were delighted to be part of the program when our intelligent fire suppression system Automist, was featured in one of the show's spectacular builds.
