Excellent work 👏 Reform UK - Ovenden Ward

Went out this afternoon for a community grass cut, with a bit of edging thrown in as well.

I always use a mulch cut. It's better for the grass, helps retain moisture, and returns nutrients back into the soil.

The downside is that it blows clippings everywhere, but that's good news for me because it means I get to break out the power blower and tidy everything up afterwards!

Your Reform councillors don't just sit behind a computer. We get out into our communities, roll up our sleeves, and make a real difference where it matters.

Well done to our Greetland Councillors Reform UK - Greetland Ward who were busy yesterday doing a bit of tidying up 🧹

Your Reform Council are focused on delivering what matters to residents. Fixing the roads, cleaning up the streets and cutting waste. Alongside this we support people’s freedom to live their lives as they want to.

Sadly, the Halifax MP seems more interested in causing division and starting culture wars about Pride Flags.

She must be forgetting that her job is to represent the town of Halifax down in London.

Instead of holding Keir Starmer to account she's one of his Government cheerleaders and is trying to score political points against the Council. We would all be better off if she did her job and dealt with this disastrous Government, possibly the worst this Country has ever had.

However, if she did want to focus locally why isn't she spending her energy on:

- Getting Calderdale an inquiry into the Grooming Gang Scandal
- Demanding justice for the victims of Skircoat Lodge when the most prolific perpetrator escapes any criminal sentence.
- Challenging her Labour Councillors on how they blew an £8 million black hole in the Council's finances.

Well, we all know why she won't do any of those. Because she's more interested in protecting her own friends than she is representing Halifax. You can tell she isn't from around here, it's just a seat and nice paying job for her. Not a passion for our local community.

Our Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Cllr Darren Commons, and our Deputy Leader (responsible for Community Safety & Enforcement) Cllr Paul Hawkaluk have been out with the Enforcement Team, witnessing first-hand how fly-tipping reports are handled from a fly-tipping incident being reported through to its clearance.

They will be reporting back on measures to crack down on this environmental crime, increase enforcement action, deter offenders, and address the significant backlog of fly-tipping reports.

Out campaigning for Rob Kenyon for Makerfield today. The support on the doorstep has been fantastic.

People can see that Rob is the only candidate with both a clear plan and a genuine commitment to represent them. Whether it's protecting women’s spaces, regenerating our towns, or tackling the issues that matter most locally, Rob understands the concerns of residents because he takes the time to listen.

You can tell he genuinely cares about the people of Makerfield and is determined to be a strong voice for them.

What a special day to commemorate D-Day, remembering the courage and sacrifice of the heroes who landed in Normandy 82 years ago.

Halifax was honoured to welcome The Royal Yorkshire Regiment as it exercised the Freedom of the Borough and celebrated its 20th anniversary. There was a fantastic turnout to support the parade, with the Regiment marching through the town, accompanied by the band, followed by a moving service at Halifax Minster. Also taking part in the parade were local cadets from the Army Cadet Force.

We are also delighted to announce that Councillor Colonel Stephen Padgett OBE has been appointed as Calderdale’s Armed Forces Member Champion. Councillor Colonel Padgett OBE enjoyed a distinguished military career spanning several decades in the British Army and served as Commander of British Forces in Afghanistan.

As Armed Forces Member Champion, he will play an important role in strengthening links with serving personnel, veterans, and the wider Armed Forces community across Calderdale.

Lest we forget.
