On Bank Holiday Monday, both of our fire engines were called to Cutting Drive to help the ambulance service at a medical emergency.

Unfortunately, this area can be particularly difficult for our fire engines to access, with badly parked vehicles on junctions making it even more challenging.

We’d like to ask residents and visitors of Trinity Street, New Street and Mount Pleasant to be mindful when parking and leave plenty of space around junctions and corners.

Every second counts in an emergency — help us help you and keep our community safe

Today we’re attending Halstead’s Party on the Pitch event, come along and meet the crew! 🚒

Find out more about what we do in the community, learn how you can help us keep you and your family safe, and while you’re here you can also ask the team about arranging a FREE Home Fire Safety Visit.

You’ll also get the chance to sit on the fire engine, see some of the equipment and tools we use, and chat with the crew about life in the fire service.

We look forward to seeing you there! 🔥

🍔 BBQ this bank holiday weekend?

If you don’t want your BBQ ending up looking like this… and resulting in a visit from us 🫣🔥 here are a few important reminders:

• Clean your BBQ before use
• Never leave a BBQ unattended
• Keep BBQs well away from sheds, fencing, houses, trees and plants
• Using a disposable BBQ? Place it on a stable, non-flammable surface such as bricks, and make sure it’s completely cool before disposing of it

A little bit of care can prevent a big fire. Enjoy the sunshine & keep those sausages safe! ☀️🔥

👇 Tag the person who’s in charge of your BBQ this weekend… and share this post to help keep others safe too!

🚨 Could your kitchen be a fire risk right now? Take 30 seconds to check...

A kitchen fire in Brentwood this morning is a reminder of how quickly fires can develop.

The fire is believed to have started after a plastic container was left by a gas hob that was on, causing it to melt.

Thankfully, nobody was injured.

Watch Manager Mark Elsey said: “This incident is a strong reminder of how quickly everyday kitchen items can become dangerous. Leaving a hob unattended, even briefly, can lead to fire spreading rapidly - especially when items like plastic are involved.”

✅ Always check your hob is switched off when not in use
✅ Make sure the area around it is completely clear

Meet our newest recruit David! 🚒

David works as a retail manager during the day.

He said “I originally went along to the open day with my kids, just for something fun and different to do. But after speaking to the crew and hearing about what the role really involves, something just clicked.

"They were so welcoming and honest about the commitment, the training and the teamwork, and it made me realise it was something I could genuinely see myself doing.”

Let's give David a warm welcome 👏

This week we had the privilege of celebrating Firefighter Phil Scillitoe’s 20 year long service award 🎖️

Since joining in 2003, Phil has attended many memorable incidents, some of which stand out for their variety and good humour. These include rescuing one three-legged dog, three cats from trees, four hamsters, three squirrels and, on occasion, a human. By his own admission, however, it was always for the squirrels!

Phil hasn’t just been a valued member of the team at Halstead Fire Station, he’s also been a huge part of the wider community and an inspiration to many who have gone on to become the next generation of firefighters.

So, on behalf of everyone at Halstead Fire Station, thank you Phil for your dedication and service. We hope you continue to be part of the crew for many years to come.
