We have published new technical bulletin all around the requirements of low-level controllers being installed to fire alarm systems. This documents look at the clarifying if this is necessary within BS 5839-6. Also exploring how accessible controls assist routine testing and addressing the misconception that added battery-powered controllers automatically reduce the systems grade.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) has successfully prosecuted an estate agency and its sole director for failing to comply with lawful requests for information under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Following the incident, several faults were identified including:

A faulty fire detector in the kitchen, doors that weren't fire resistant and a lack of self-closing doors and residents were unaware of what to do in the event of a fire.
