Welcome to Allotment City Harrow.
Allotments are referenced by Harrow, but tucked away in a deep dark corner of the Harrow Council website. Even then they are mostly seen as a means of income to the council.
Instead, we want to show allotments as a critical but underused local resource, and provide a social media gathering place for allotment folk to exchange information and tips as a key means of making better use of this valuable resource.
We desperately need younger folk who are more social media savvy to come and join in, and become the next generation of allotment holders. Let's remember, bio intensive and non-chemical planting techniques help maintain healthy soils and improve local drainage, meaning better care for the planet and our environment.
What is needed is a regular post here, plus encouragement for page visitors to go to the WhatsApp group and join in with related articles, sharing and so on. We'd love to connect up with Young Harrow, as younger folk would bring a wealth of knowledge about online tech and promotion.
We should mention that gardening is highly mindful and therapeutic, can be very helpful in the event of supply chain disruption - remember COVID? - and there are groups of young folk gathering to share knowledge and tips already, albeit not so much on Facebook.
Come and join in, and bridge those generation gaps !!!
