Dear Harrow on the Hill,
Thank you for all your support, kindness and encouragement over the last four years. It has been a genuine pleasure and privilege to represent such a special community as your councillor.
While I am naturally disappointed not to have been re-elected, I leave with my head held high and enormously proud of what we achieved together.
Over the last four years we secured more than £100,000 of community investment into our area and delivered a wide range of local improvements, including:
• Restoration of the High Street Fountain
• Refurbishment of the Hornbuckle Close playground
• Support for My Yard Warm Hubs
• New bins, benches, bicycle racks and festive lights
• Greenford Road planters and streetscape improvements
• Alley gates at Cavendish Avenue
• Traffic calming campaigns, speeding signs and safer crossings
• Petitions for ASB cameras, traffic calming and footway repairs
• Clearance of Allotments at Cowen Avenue
• Clearance of the Commonwealth War Graves on Roxeth Hill
• Planting of 30 additional trees across the ward
None of this happens alone. Thank you to residents, volunteers, community groups, council officers who worked with us to make things happen.
Most importantly, thank you for the conversations (even the challenging ones) and the sense of community that makes Harrow on the Hill so unique.
I got involved as I am a public servant and I wanted to make things better. Public service matters. Community matters. And whilst my time as a councillor has come to an end, my love for this community certainly has not.
I wish Harrow on the Hill and their new councillors the very best of luck.
Stephen
