Harrow Parks

Harrow Parks The latest news and events happening in the Beautiful Parks in the London Borough of Harrow. Our parks and open spaces need you!

Our vision is for all of Harrow’s Parks and Open Spaces to be beautiful, well-maintained and litter-free, safe and welcoming, to have appropriate facilities and equipment, and to be loved and used by and for the benefit of the whole community. They are the green lungs of our town, they provide spaces for the young to play and for everyone to have some fun and relaxation, they are an essential part

of our local environment and they need Friends to ensure the Council maintain them properly and to rally community spirit and activity. You can make a difference by creating or joining a Friends group, working in partnership with the Council to sort out what needs to be done to improve the space; maybe run activities and events during the year, and enjoy the fresh air. And We, Harrow Parks Forum, can support you with our wealth of practical experience and together we can make our green spaces great again.

On Friday 17th July representatives visited Claremont Park, part of the Brent Cross Town development.

We organised a brief overview of the project and a guided walk of the site, followed by an opportunity to have a further explore or sit and have an excellent coffee.

It's an interesting model, being a publicly accessible green space, but privately funded and maintained.

It's a very impressive site but delivered with a very close eye on budgets.

ParkBathe

We are excited to be bringing ParkBathe Mindful Walks to Harrow, launching initially in West Harrow Park and Kenton Recreation Ground, with the ambition of expanding to other parks across the borough in the future.

Some of you may have seen the recent trial walks, which gave local residents the opportunity to experience what ParkBathe is all about.

What is ParkBathe?
ParkBathe Mindful Walks CIC is a Green Social Prescribing wellbeing programme that delivers free, peer-guided, nature-based wellbeing walks. Designed to support people experiencing stress, anxiety, loneliness, low mood or social isolation, the walks provide a simple and accessible way to improve wellbeing through connection with nature and community.

The programme already operates across 12 parks in South East London, supporting over 700 people each year. Each one-hour walk combines forest bathing-inspired activities with simple sensory exercises that help participants slow down, switch off from everyday pressures and reconnect with local green spaces.

Why We're Getting in Touch
In order to co-create a sustainable, community-led programme in Harrow, we are providing exciting opportunities for local volunteers to train as Community Walk Leaders and Ambassadors.

What's in it for Volunteers?
The training is completely free and offers a fantastic opportunity to:
• Learn new skills and build confidence
• Gain experience leading community wellbeing activities
• Meet like-minded people
• Receive free training and ongoing support from the ParkBathe team
• Make a positive difference in your local community
• Help more people benefit from Harrow's green spaces

No previous experience is required – just enthusiasm, curiosity and a desire to support others.

The role is designed to be flexible, and even a few hours a month can make a real difference.

By becoming a Walk Leader or Ambassador, you'll help local people access a free wellbeing activity in their own neighbourhood while building stronger community connections.

How You Can you Help.

We're reaching out because you are well connected within the local community and may know people who would thrive in this role.

We'd be incredibly grateful if you could help us spread the word through your networks, whether that's community groups, volunteer organisations, residents' associations, local charities, faith groups, social media channels or WhatsApp groups.

If you know someone who enjoys being outdoors, cares about their community, is recently retired, looking to build confidence, gain experience, meet new people, or simply wants to give something back, we'd love for you to share this opportunity with them.

Interested in Becoming a Walk Leader or Ambassador?
We'd love to hear from you. Simply contact Vanessa for an informal chat about the role, the training and what is involved.
