✅We delivered a joint event with Children’s Partnership, bringing together insights from both children’s and adults’ safeguarding.
✅Resources from both Children’s and Adults’ Safeguarding are now available on our campaign page to strengthen understanding and support practice.
✅Together, we have highlighted the importance of Transitional Safeguarding and the need for coordinated support as young people move into adulthood.

This week during “A Spotlight on Transitional Safeguarding for Young People into Adulthood” Campaign we held an online event for 229 professionals. The event focused on:

✅Explore real-life learning from the Evie Safeguarding Adult Review.

✅Gain a deeper insight into transitional safeguarding & strengthen your safeguarding practice.

✅Transitional safeguarding calls on all professionals to move beyond child/adult service silos and work together for young people at this critical stage of life.

This session has highlighted how Evie’s story reinforces why transitional safeguarding needs to be everyone’s responsibility.

All behaviour happens for a reason. Instead of trying to stop it, try to understand the reason(s) why.

Key things to consider are:

🟩Pain
🟩Attention
🟩Sensory
🟩Escape or avoidance
🟩Tangible or to get something

When you understand why someone is engaging in behaviours that may be challenging a service, this enables you to think of ways to meet their needs in other ways.

This week, TSAB, Hartlepool & Stockton’s Safeguarding Children’s Partnership & South Tees Safeguarding Children’s Partnership are raising awareness of transitions for young people into adulthood.

We’re highlighting the need to “Think beyond child/adult silos”, as risks and trauma don’t stop at 18. Many young people continue to face:

• Early trauma
• Placement moves
• Caring responsibilities
• Ongoing mental health concerns, including su***de risk
• Gaps between services

We must work together to ensure young people are supported and not left behind.

This week is Sexual Abuse and Violence Awareness Week and we want to remind anyone who has experienced sexual abuse about the help and support available. 💜

Starting on Monday and ending on Sunday, the week aims to raise awareness about the issues of sexual abuse and sexual violence whilst providing support to survivors.

It’s never too late to report an incident to police, we have specially trained officers who will support you throughout. You can also get help without involving the police if you’re not yet ready to report it to us.

🗣️ Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline McGlade said: “Sexual violence is a horrific crime which has long-lasting impacts both physically and emotionally.

“I understand how difficult it is to come forward and report these incidents to police and I’d like to reassure anyone who has experience sexual violence that you will be listened to and you will be believed.

“Every single report is investigated regardless of when it happened so please report any incidents to us. We have specially trained officers who will support you throughout the process along with our partner agencies.”

Anyone who has experienced a sexual offence can also contact Teesside Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) regardless of whether or not the offence has been reported to the police. SARC specially trained nurses are available on 0330 223 0099.

Members of the public can also access our local specialist services such as ARCH, Halo, My sisters place, Eva, A Way Out, Changing lives and Harbour.
