On 15th August 1981, the first turf was cut for what would become Hatfield Peverel Village Hall.

The Hall we know today was built through an incredible community effort. Villagers didn’t just raise money - many also gave their time and practical skills, helping with everything from mixing cement and painting ceilings to carpentry, tiling and electrical work.

The new Hall was officially opened on 4th September 1982, but its story goes back even further to the original Memorial Hall, built in 1920.

So today, exactly 45 years on, it feels like a lovely time to remember all those people who helped create such an important part of our village.

You can read more about the history of the hall on the Village Hall website at https://hatpevvhall.org/hall-history

If you have any old photographs of the Village Hall or the original Memorial Hall, remember helping with the fundraising or building work or had parents or grandparents involved and remember events, clubs, dances or celebrations held there over the years, feel free to share your photographs and memories in the comments.

And perhaps there is something especially fitting about looking back right now. The Hall was created because the village came together to make it happen, and 45 years later it still relies on that same community spirit to keep it thriving for future generations. ❤️

Hatfield Peverel Village Hall — built by the community, for the community.

🚗 Additional Parking for Recreation and Sports Users

We're planning to create additional parking next to the tennis courts to provide extra spaces for recreation and sports users when the Village Hall car park is full.

We hope to complete the project later this year. In the meantime, fencing has been installed around the proposed area so that, when parking demand is particularly high, the space can be opened for authorised users.

Importantly, we want any permanent parking area to fit naturally into its surroundings. The aim is to create a practical parking solution that supports use of the sports facilities while retaining the character and appearance of the area. The space will be designed to blend with its setting and will not simply be a large area of tarmac.

We'll keep residents updated as the project moves forward. 🌳🎾🚗

The HP Parish Council were delighted to have three younger people from the village attend our full council meeting on Monday 3rd August. They raised some very valid points which we are keen to take on board. It might not have been the most entertaining evening but it’s great to see young people taking an interest in local politics and their community.

As you know, all residents from HP and Nounsley are welcome to attend our monthly council meetings and we’re particularly keen to welcome our younger people from the village to come along and get involved.

As reported in this month’s Village Voice, we are pleased to welcome our new Police Community Support Officer, Stuart, who will be holding regular Beat Surgeries Hatfield Peverel Coffee Lounge in Hatfield Peverel Village Hall . These informal drop-in sessions are a great opportunity for residents to meet Stuart, discuss any local concerns, ask questions about policing in the area, or simply introduce themselves. Whether you have an issue you’d like to raise, would like crime prevention advice, or want to find out more about what’s happening in our community, Stuart will be happy to chat.

Everyone is welcome and no appointment is necessary - just drop in during the advertised times.
