As Father's Day approaches, we want bereaved fathers, their partners and families to know that Sands is here if they need support.

We know the lead up to Father's Day can feel difficult and lonely for fathers whose baby has died, no matter how long ago. It can also be tough for those who want to support someone who has been touched by pregnancy or baby loss. Please remember that we are here for you.

Dads with other children may also have mixed feelings and worry about how to approach the day, and that's ok. We have advice and tips on our website to help with self-care. And if you have a friend or family member who has experienced baby loss, we also have advice on how to support them during what can be a difficult time.

This week in the ducklings room we have been walking the plank to keep away from the crocodiles 🐊

We made monkey rice cakes, played with the zoo animals in the sensory sawdust tray and used different tools to paint snakes and lions. We sent our peg lions home so that the learning can continue at home to develop fine motor skills squeezing the pegs to put them on/ off. 🦁🐵🐍

A huge thank you to everyone who came on Saturday morning to our Birthday Open morning. It was fabulous to see so many of you and we had a lovely time chatting and playing with you all. 🥳

Thank you to The Bakewell for supplying the tasty treats and celebration cake 😋💕

We remembered to take a few before pictures for those who were unable to make it.

We have very limited spaces so we do advise you to let us know ASAP if you would like a place for your child, add a day or change a session. Email [email protected] for all enquiries.

We will be holding the bouncy castle on a dry, calm day and have a second party with the children in the summer holidays. 🏰☀️

In the Ducklings room we have continued our zoo theme following the children’s interests.

We explored the marks the animals made, fed the different zoo animals, hooked the hoops on n the elephants nose and threw balls into the lions mouth 🐘🦁🐵

We decorated our Elma elephants using the dot markers and matched up the different animals with the puzzle.

We have been developing our ball skills kicking and throwing the balls and enjoyed taking turns to score a goal! ⚽️

In the Sunshine’s room this week we have had fun exploring space.🚀🔭🛰️🪐☄️
We constructed rockets using different materials, explored the planets and made our own planets using different mediums. The balloon printing made great planets. 🪐🛸🚀
We dressed up as astronauts and played in our role play area alongside peers shooting off up to space. 🧑‍🚀
We shared story’s based on space and matched up the aliens underpants looking at the different patterns to help.

We have also been sorting out different shapes, weighing them and learnt the different names of them through play. 🔵❤️🔸🟪🔻

We have had a special delivery of some new strawberry plants that we all helped to plant out alongside the few we have left, (some of our little ones got a little dig happy and we lost some of our crop as a result,
But fear not we have replenished the stock🤣). 🍓🪏

Just a reminder that we will be holding our Birthday open morning tomorrow for past, present and prospective new families. The cake is ordered, party hats at the ready….. we hope to see you all there. 10am-12noon 🎉🎂🥳

*unfortunately thanks to the good old British weather it won’t be safe to have the bouncy castle tomorrow, but don’t worry we will have it over the summer holidays again for the children to enjoy and have a second party. We will still have cake, balloons, party hats, and lots of fun activities 🥰
