GOOD NEWS WORK ON THE HEIGHT RESTRICTION DUE TO START MONDAY

For more than two years, I have regularly received comments about the condition of the height restriction structure at the entrance to the Village Centre.

I have been pushing to get it repaired, but progress has been frustratingly slow, with both Hertfordshire County Council and Dacorum Borough Council denying responsibility and each claiming that the other owns the structure. It is, however, agreed that it stands on highway-owned land.

Given the deteriorating appearance of the structure and the safety concerns, I continued to press both councils to find a solution.

I’m therefore delighted that, while both councils still deny ownership of the structure, they have now agreed to work together to get the necessary repairs carried out. The cost will be shared between the two councils and my local highways budget.

The work is due to start on Monday 24 August and is scheduled to take three days during which traffic management will be in place.

The repairs will include:
Stripping back and replacing the damaged and rotten timber on the roof.
Repairing the roof structure.
Relocating the yellow barrier forward by 60cm to provide greater separation.
It’s taken far longer than it should have, but I’m pleased that we have finally reached a point where the work can go ahead and the structure can be brought back to a safe and presentable condition.

Thank you to everyone who has continued to raise concerns and helped keep this issue on the agenda.

Being a quieter week I had the chance to do a few litter picks across Adeyfield, especially along the footpaths linking to Maylands Avenue.
Allways surprising how much rubbish is dropped so close to a nearby bin.

A chance to remember all those who gave so much at today's service to mark the 81st anniversary of VJ day which bought about the end of WW2.
A beautiful morning in the grounds of the walled garden in Gadebridge Park.

Having reported several flytips across Adeyfield in the past week a reminder to check that whoever you ask to collect your waste check they are licensed and will dispose of it correctly.

Fly tipping isn't just the responsibility of the person who dumped it there - it's also the responsibility of those who used to own the items.

You can be prosecuted if your waste is fly tipped by someone else.

⚠️ Always use a registered waste carrier to collect your rubbish
⚠️ Check that a waste carrier is registered on the Environment Agency's website.
⚠️ Ask how your rubbish will be disposed of - seek evidence of this.

Follow the S.C.R.A.P Fly Tipping code using the link in the comments.
