| The Independent Coffee Guide has held a special place in my heart since living in Edinburgh as a student and spending my days caffeinated and bouncing from cafe to cafe. As a small business owner, you very rarely have moments to reflect and feel pride, but the first time we were included in the guide a few years ago, it felt like a proper full circle moment.

We’re back in this year’s edition for the North, and there are some amazing venues in there. We’ve got loads of copies here and in Lateral for you to buy and navigate the North’s best coffee, and we’ve lobbed one or two copies onto tables for you to flick through over your flat white.

A comforting, chocolatey coffee with peanut notes and sweet digestive biscuit.

Kenya / Kirinyaga | Washed
Bright and fruit-forward, with blackcurrant and plum with the rounded sweetness of sultanas.

Rwanda / Wimana | Anaerobic natural
Tropical mango sweetness, delicate white peach and a gentle cardamom spice in there.

Colombia / Desarollo | Washed
Toffee sweetness, slightly malty, lifted by some fresh orange.
