Have you taken a stroll around the village lately? 🌻 The floral displays are absolutely glorious right now — bursting with colour at every turn and a real credit to everyone who's been working so hard! 💚

With just 26 days to go until Judging Day, our village is blooming beautifully and only getting better by the day! 🏆

🌸 IT'S NATIONAL VOLUNTEERS' WEEK — AND WE'RE CELEBRATING OUR COLLINGHAM IN BLOOM HEROES! 🌸

What better week to say a HUGE thank you to the incredible people who make our village bloom! 🌱 As the nation celebrates its volunteers, we want to shout about ours from the rooftops! 📣
The countdown is on too — over the next 27 days, Collingham is being transformed into a riot of colour, ready for the Bloom Trail and Judging Day on 2nd July! 🏆

None of it would be possible without our amazing volunteers who give their time, energy and green fingers week after week. THANK YOU to:

The route is set and our village is ready to shine for this year's Britain in Bloom judging! 🌼

From the Cricket Club all the way through to the Royal Oak, our 14 wonderful stops show off the very best of Collingham – our gardens, green spaces, community orchards and much-loved village spots.

🦔💚 It’s Hedgehog Awareness Week! 💚🦔

3rd–9th May 2026 is all about helping one of Britain’s best-loved little visitors — the humble hedgehog! 🌿✨

As part of Collingham in Bloom 2026, we’d love everyone in the village to take part and help fill in the national Hedgehog Highways Map 🗺️🦔

We already know hedgehogs are nesting in Collingham — some of our volunteers even have hedgehogs with baby hoglets in their gardens! 🥰🦔🦔🦔 It’s a lovely reminder that these little visitors are already here and need safe routes to move around our village. 🌙🌿

Hedgehogs can travel up to a mile a night looking for food, shelter and mates — but fences and walls can block their way. A small 13cm x 13cm gap at the bottom of a fence can make a huge difference! 🏡✨

🌸 How to take part:

📍 Tell us where your hedgehog highway is
🌿 Make your garden hedgehog-friendly
📸 Share any hedgehog sightings

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported us at the Collingham May Fair — especially everyone who had a go on our Human Fruit Machine! 🍒🍋🍊🎰

Thanks to your amazing support, smiles and generosity, we raised a fantastic £115! 🎉👏

Every penny will go straight back into helping make Collingham look bright, colourful and welcoming this year. 🌺🌿🌻

🌸💐 Remember Someone Special with Collingham in Bloom @ All Saints Church - 3rd & 4th May 2026 💐🌸

This year, we’re creating a beautiful and heartfelt floral display at All Saints Church to remember the people we care for, while being part of Collingham in Bloom 🌼🕊️

It’s really simple to take part:

🌷 Choose a small jar or bottle — recycled jars are perfect ♻️
🌺 Add a few flowers, either from your garden or bought from a shop
🏷️ Write a message or memory, and tie it on with colourful ribbon
⛪ Take your blooms to All Saints Church

The church will be open from Sunday 3rd May for people to add their jars 🌿

Then come along during the May Fair on Monday 4th May to enjoy the display and see all the lovely tributes together 🌸💛

A LITTLE APPEAL FOR SOME LOVE 🌼

HAVE YOU GOT A COLDFRAME OR GREENHOUSE with a bit of free space for a few trays for 2 to 3 weeks? We would be grateful for your help.

Our volunteers have been doing a cracking job growing flowers from seed this year, and because we’ve been growing so many as part of our green initiative to keep things as local as possible, we’ve now hit a lovely little problem — we need a few temporary foster homes for some of our young plants before they go out into the village displays.

They’re very easy guests: quiet, well-behaved, no late nights, and they definitely won’t raid the fridge.

📞🌸 Wonky Corner’s Telephone Box is Getting a New Lease of Life! 🌸📞

The much-loved telephone box on Swinderby Road has been part of village life for many years. Research suggests it is a classic K6 telephone box, installed across the country from around 1938 through to the late 1960s.

Last year, thanks to the slightly leaning telephone box and the equally wayward post box nearby, this little corner earned itself the affectionate name “Wonky Corner”! 😄📮

The telephone box has now been decommissioned, with the phone removed, and Collingham Parish Council has purchased it so it can remain part of village life as a Community Information Point.

Collingham in Bloom has already painted the outside and planted around the box, and the surrounding area is lovingly looked after by a local resident. 🌿🌺

We felt it was important that the telephone box continued to have a community purpose. So, it will become a small local notice point where residents can see what’s happening in and around Collingham. There will also be a letterbox so people can post notices to be added to the board. 🗞️📌

Over the next few weeks, the box will be:

🧽 Deep cleaned
🎨 Painted inside
🪟 Fitted with replacement Perspex
📋 Given a new notice board
🌸 Finished with a flower pot

We would also love to hear your stories about the telephone box.
Did you ever use it? Do you have a funny memory, an emotional memory, or a story from years gone by? And does anyone know the true tale of why it became wonky? We’ve heard a rumour that a car may once have driven into it! 🚗😬
