Andrew George, the Liberal Democrat MP for St Ives, recently secured fourth place in the Private Members’ Bill ballot.
This gives him an opportunity to introduce legislation of his choosing to Parliament and, given his relatively high position in the ballot, any bill he brings forward would stand a realistic chance of becoming law.

As LD Friends of Palestine members based in the Devon and Cornwall region, we wanted to let you know that we have been in conversation with Andrew about the possibility of using this opportunity to introduce legislation banning UK trade with Israel’s illegal settlements. This has been Liberal Democrat policy since 2021 and would represent a significant step towards applying economic pressure in response to the ongoing occupation of Palestinian lands.
Fingers crossed!

FYI!
Mobile services in Okehampton are being upgraded, offering better speed, performance, and coverage for locals and businesses using mobile devices.

However, because these new mobile signals were previously used by TV services received through an aerial – such as Freeview, BT, TalkTalk and YouView – there is a small chance that if you use these services, you may notice new interference such as poor sound, a blocky picture, or a ‘no signal’ message.

For interference issues potentially linked to the mobile upgrade, contact Restore TV for free on 0808 13 13 800 or visit restoretv.uk for more information.

Noticed new TV interference? We fix disruption to TV received through aerial, which can be caused by mobile service upgrades.

📈 COULD THE LIB DEMS BECOME THE BIGGEST PARTY IN ENGLISH LOCAL GOVERNMENT? 📈

Big shifts are happening in English politics! As we head toward May 7th, all eyes are on the Liberal Democrats. While other parties grab the headlines, the Lib Dems have been quietly gaining ground and they could be on the verge of a historic breakthrough. 🔶

Here’s why the map might be turning orange:
✅ Unprecedented Growth: They are on track to increase their number of councillors for the eighth local election in a row.
✅ The "Tortoise and the Hare": While Reform gets the "fuss," the Lib Dems are consistently winning seats year after year. 🐢🏃💨
✅ Tactical Voting: We are seeing "huge levels" of tactical voting as traditional party loyalties fade.
✅ Key Issues: Their focus on the cost of living and a clear stance on international leadership is resonating with voters on the ground.

They are likely to overtake the Conservatives and become the second largest force in local government? Some even suggest an outside chance of overtaking Labour if results swing their way.

As one spokesperson put it: “A lot of people seem to be misreading the way things are going. We think we have some of the answers.”

👇 What do you think? Are you seeing a surge for the Lib Dems in your area? Let us know in the comments!

Told you!

Told you!

Even the Conservatives are starting to admit it: the best-run councils are Liberal Democrat! 🔶

During a recent interview, Kemi Badenoch tried to brag about "excellent" Tory councils—but there was just one problem. The councils she listed as examples of success (Guildford, Runnymede, Elmbridge, and Mole Valley) aren't actually run by the Conservatives! 🤦‍♂️

In reality:
✅ Guildford: Run by the Lib Dems.
✅ Mole Valley: Under Lib Dem majority control.
✅ Elmbridge: Run by a Lib Dem & Independent coalition.
✅ Runnymede: Run by a cross-party alliance including the Lib Dems.

It seems even the Tories can't help but notice the "Lib Dem Difference" in our local communities. As we continue to knock down the Blue Wall in places like Surrey and Sussex and across the UK, we’re happy to show Kemi exactly how it’s done! 🧱🔨

Kemi lists LIB DEM councils as being the best run!

Many in SW1 have remarked that Kemi Badenoch has come on quite a bit since her early PMQs’ appearances. The Tory leader can now land a blow on television and can address the Commons with the confidence and clarity she lacked in earlier days. Significant progress, then. But alas, yesterday brought ...

Daisy is spot on...yet again!

Lib Dems have warned voters of the potential "chaos" Reform UK could bring if the party claims your County Hall at May's elections....

"I think what I would say is Reform is clearly riding high in the polls, and I think the reason for that is people are sick to death of the Conservatives and feel the Conservatives failed not only in Westminster but in County Hall as well."

"But what I would say to people is if they look at the Reform-led councils around the country, they are consumed with chaos and broken promises and scandal in many cases."
