Thank you very much to Epping Ongar Railway for hosting us and Epping Fire Station this evening for a familiarisation visit on the heritage railway line!

This was a great opportunity for firefighters to discuss railway safety and discuss different scenarios so we can be prepared when needed!🚒 🚂

For tonights drill night we teamed up with Old Harlow for an RTC scenario.

We simulated a person stuck under a vehicle and a car on its side to utilise all of our RTC equipment.

We were also lucky enough to use our new Holmatro cutting equipment range, which was brilliant!

Crews from Old Harlow, Ongar and Chelmsford extinguished a house fire in Harlow today after neighbours called 999 when they heard a smoke alarm.

Watch Manager Daniel Hockley said: “The occupants weren't at home at the time, but thankfully the property had working smoke alarms and neighbours heard them and called 999.

"The whole house had filled with smoke and the fire had spread from the conservatory to a first-floor bedroom. Crews worked hard to stop the fire from spreading and extinguish it."

It is believed the fire was caused by a fridge freezer, which was plugged into an extension lead, in the conservatory.
