🚒 New Fire Engine for Grayshott Fire Station 🚒
We’re pleased to share some great news with the local community – Grayshott Fire Station has taken delivery of a newer Light Rescue Pump fire engine, replacing the station’s previous Water Tender.
The new appliance, call sign H07P6, replaces H07P4, which has been based at Grayshott since 2015. This updated vehicle provides our on-call firefighters with enhanced capability and modern equipment to respond to incidents across the village and surrounding areas.
Built on a Volvo FL chassis and constructed by specialist fire appliance manufacturer Angloco, the Light Rescue Pump (LRP) is designed to be more compact and agile, making it easier to manoeuvre along narrow rural lanes and through busy built-up areas. Despite its smaller footprint, it carries a comprehensive range of equipment to deal with fires, road traffic collisions and other emergencies.
Key features include:
🔥 Ultra High Pressure Lance (UHPL) from Cold Cut Systems – a specialist firefighting system capable of cutting through materials such as steel or concrete, allowing crews to tackle some fires externally
🔧 Battery-powered rescue tools including cutters, spreaders and a ram for road traffic collisions
🌡 Thermal imaging cameras to help locate heat sources and casualties in smoke-filled environments
💡 Portable battery-powered floodlights for working safely at night
🪜 Firefighting ladders, hoses and ventilation equipment to support a wide range of incidents
🫁 Breathing apparatus sets enabling firefighters to safely enter smoke-filled buildings
This appliance also introduces a “clean cab” layout, designed to better protect firefighters from contaminants following incidents. As part of this approach:
• Breathing apparatus sets are no longer stored inside the cab, but in a dedicated rear locker
• The cab is fitted with an advanced air filtration system to improve air quality for crews
• The arrangement helps reduce the risk of harmful contaminants entering the crew area
The appliance is powered by a Euro 6 engine, helping reduce exhaust emissions compared with older vehicles, and has been carefully designed so equipment is stored more efficiently and at safer heights for firefighters to access quickly.
For the firefighters at Grayshott, this represents a significant upgrade in capability and crew safety. For the community, it means the station continues to provide modern, well-equipped emergency response whenever it’s needed.
