Great new play area coming to Hockley woods

🤩 Coming soon to Hockley Woods! 🥳

We’re thrilled to announce that a brand-new inclusive play area for younger children is on its way! 🎉

To make this happen, the Hockley Woods Play Space will be temporarily closed for one week from Thursday 4 June while the new equipment is installed.

The image gives a sneak peek of what’s to come… and we can’t wait for you to see it in real life!

⛔ Safety first: Please follow all signage, keep clear of barriers, and stay out of the work zones while improvements are underway.

Four play areas in the Rochford District are set for a major refresh over the coming months, with improvement works planned at Fairview Recreation Ground, Clements Hall Leisure Centre, Hockley Woods and Sweyne Park, as part of a wider investment in community play spaces.

The programme of works will replace ageing equipment, improve safety surfacing and modernise play areas where facilities have reached the end of their life or where there is an opportunity to enhance the play experience for local children and families.

As work starts at each play area, some sections may be fenced off or have limited access. We ask everyone to follow the safety signs, keep clear of barriers and avoid going into any work zones. Each play area will reopen once the work is finished, giving families updated, safe and enjoyable spaces to use again.

Waste collection update

Our crews are working hard to keep collections running. However, some roads in Hockley and a few rural areas didn’t have their food caddies collected today.

Please leave your food caddy out – we’ll collect it as soon as possible.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

What has happened to the newly refurbished village sign?

the Parish Council were keen to restore the old sign to support the heritage of the area and took on board comments from residents and retailers that originally the sign was pointing the “wrong” one , taking these comments on board the sign was rotated but as a result of this due to the structure when there were high winds the the sign became unsafe. To ensure that this does not happen again alterations are being made to the sign to enable it to face the revised way but remain secure . Comments have been raised by residents regarding the manufacturer works, the Parish Council used Bakers of Danbury who are renowned for their works and have been fully supportive with the repairs and ensuring that the sign is able to meet the needs of the residents whilst remaining safe. The sign is due to be installed in early July
