Rogue Trader Alert: We are warning residents to be aware of doorstep cold callers offering driveway cleaning.
This follows reports from the Trowse area of three males cold calling at properties this afternoon offering to undertake work.
The males were seen to using a white Renault Traffic van on Irish registration plates.

Our advice is:
• NEVER deal with cold callers looking to undertake work on or around your property
• NEVER be pressured into agreeing to have work done, no matter what offers or claims the cold caller is making
• NEVER allow a cold caller access to your home, roof or garden even if they are offering to do tasks for a small fee or free
• NEVER pay for work before it is completed
• When looking to have work done on or around your property ONLY deal with reputable companies you have researched and chosen yourself and have obtained a written quotation from before commencing the work

PLANNING: A Development Committee meeting to consider two supermarket planning applications in Holt has been postponed.

Following the submission of further designs, it’s now necessary for the Highways authority to reconsider the proposals.

The two applications will now be considered at a later stage once the statutory consultees have had time to assess the latest amendments to the proposals.

💰 We're encouraging residents to be vigilant following an incident of courier fraud near Fakenham yesterday.💰

A resident of Hindringham was contacted by a fraudster pretending to be a police officer, who encouraged the victim to withdraw large amounts of money from their bank. Unfortunately the attempt was successful and the victim lost approximately £16,000.

Courier Fraud happens when a fraudster contacts a victim by telephone claiming to be a police officer, or from a bank for example. A number of techniques will then be used to convince the victim to hand over their bank details or cash, which then gets passed on to a courier.

👮‍♀️ Advice 👮‍♀️

- Residents are reminded that your bank or the police will NEVER ask you to withdraw or send money, purchase items, or ask for your PIN, bank card or bank account details over the phone – never give these details to anybody.

- Neither the police or the banks will send a courier to collect money from you.

- If you're asked to telephone a bank, always do it on a different phone to the one you were contacted on.

- Fraudsters may keep the line open after calling you, and have been known to play ringtones, hold music and a recorded message down the phone so the victim believes they are making a call to a legitimate number. Make sure you have hung up from the original call and you can hear a dialling tone before calling police, or use a friend or neighbour's telephone instead.

- Do not rush into doing what the scammer says. Take your time to think about what's being asked of you.

- If you have already given your bank details over the phone or handed your card details over, call your bank straight away to cancel the card.

Police are keen for residents to share these messages with neighbours, family and friends - particularly elderly relatives - to ensure they are aware of these scams and the warning signs.

We have received a report that a Gentleman has lost a black folder with all his car information in it. The item was lost somewhere between Ainsworth Court and St. Andrew’s Church. If anyone comes across this item please hand it in to lost property at Holt Town Council, 2 White Lion Street.
