Earlier there was an incident in town whereby a kind resident donated the use of their umbrella. If this was you, the umbrella is at the Town Council Office on White Lion Street. ☂️

⚠️ Temporary changes to electrical recycling in Norfolk ⚠️

📅 5 May 2026

Recycling centres across Norfolk are currently unable to accept most electrical items.

This is due to a serious fire last month at a waste electrical recycling facility used as part of the national system Norfolk relies on. The company that operates the site has now lost its approval and has stopped operating. Because of this, electrical waste cannot be legally recycled at the moment.

What you can still bring

You can continue to take the following items to Recycling Centres:
✅ Washing machines
✅ Tumble dryers
✅ Dishwashers
✅ Cookers

What’s paused for now
❌ All other electrical items can’t be accepted until further notice
❌District Council bulky waste collections may also be affected – please check directly with your District Council for the latest information

🔧 What we’re doing
We know this is inconvenient and we’re really sorry for the disruption. All available options are being explored, working closely with national regulators and industry partners to put a safe and legal solution in place as quickly as possible.

Remember:
👉 Please don’t bring electrical items to Recycling Centres right now unless they’re listed above
👉 Never place electrical items or batteries in household waste bins, as this poses a serious fire risk.
👉 Keep items at home until services resume.
👉 We’ll share updates as soon as anything changes

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to get services fully back up and running 💚
