CASUAL VACANCIES IN THE TOWN OF HONITON (ST PAULS WARD)

Notices have now been received from the Returning Officer at East Devon District Council, advising that the period for the receipt of notice requiring an election to fill two vacancies has now expired. No such Notice has been received and an election will not be held. The Parish Council should now proceed to fill the vacancies by co-option. Please see the link below for further details.

𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗦𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲'𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆!
We wish all a happy St George's Day.
Did you know that although St George never visited England, his feast day – the 23rd April – was celebrated in England from at least the early 8th century. England shares St George with Venice, Genoa, Portugal, Ethiopia and Catalonia among others as their patron saint.
St George's protection was invoked against several nasty diseases, including the Plague and leprosy.
From around 1100, St George's help was also sought to protect the English army. The image of St George adorns many of the memorials built to honour those killed during World War One.
