On 12th May we ran our first shopper bus for the residents of Eversley. Our bus runs every Tuesday morning and drops at Camberley town centre and The Meadows and is open to all residents, no age restrictions.

A polite reminder about leaves and garden waste

Eversley Parish Council would like to remind residents and anyone carrying out gardening work in the parish not to blow or sweep leaves and other garden debris from private properties onto the road, pavement or highway verge.

We have recently been made aware of leaves being deliberately blown from a property across the road and onto land opposite, causing problems for passing vehicles.

Please remember that highway verges and land forming part of the highway should not be used as somewhere to dispose of leaves or garden waste from private property.

Section 148(1)(c) provides that, without lawful authority or excuse, a person who “deposits any thing whatsoever on a highway to the interruption of any user of the highway” commits an offence.

Please collect leaves and garden debris and dispose of or compost them responsibly.

Large amounts of leaves blown into or across the road can also create a hazard for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians, particularly when wet.

We appreciate that autumn means plenty of clearing up for residents and gardeners, but please help us keep Eversley’s roads, verges and pavements safe, tidy and pleasant for everyone.

Young Litter Pickers Caring for Eversley!

It’s been so lovely to see a few of our younger residents out and about around Eversley recently, helping to pick up litter and keep our village looking its best.

It’s fantastic to see the younger generation taking pride in their community and local environment and giving up some of their time to make a difference.

Every bag of litter collected helps, and hopefully seeing our youngsters getting involved might encourage a few more of us to grab a litter picker and a bag when we’re out and about too!

A huge thank you and well done to our young litter-picking volunteers — you’re setting a brilliant example!

🚌 DON’T FORGET OUR YELABUS! 🚌

A little reminder about what a wonderful community service Yelabus provides for Eversley and the surrounding villages — and the more we use it, the more we can help support this valuable local service. 💛

Every Tuesday morning, Yelabus provides transport for Eversley residents, making it easier to get out and about, do a little shopping and enjoy some independence without having to worry about driving.

It was also lovely to see Yelabus bringing Yateley residents over to Eversley Community Café today for coffee, cake and a good catch-up! ☕🍰 It’s exactly what community transport is all about — helping people get out, meet others and stay connected.

💙 PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS & FREE PSA TESTING IN EVERSLEY

Eversley Parish Council is pleased to be working with The Prostate Project to bring two important prostate cancer awareness events to Eversley Village Hall this October.

📣 PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS TALK
📅 Thursday 1st October

📍 Eversley Village Hall

Please come along to this informative talk from The Prostate Project. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about prostate cancer, the signs and risks to be aware of, PSA testing and the importance of early detection.

Then later in the month:

💙 FREE PSA BLOOD TESTING – PROSTATE PROJECT MAN VAN
📅 Saturday 24th October
⏰ 11:00am – 3:00pm
📍 Eversley Village Hall

The Prostate Project Man Van will be offering FREE PSA blood tests to eligible men.

Eligibility:
🔹 Men aged 50–70
🔹 Black men aged 45+
🔹 Men aged 45–70 with a family history of prostate, breast or ovarian cancer

⚠️ Booking is required and you MUST bring your NHS number with you.

Please use the QR code on the poster to book your PSA test.

Prostate cancer often has no symptoms in its early stages, so awareness and early detection really do matter.

Please share this post with your family, friends and neighbours — it could encourage someone you care about to get checked. 💙

🌿❤️ Eversley – Small Parish, Big Community ❤️🌿

Today we were incredibly proud to welcome the judges from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Village of the Year competition to Eversley.

The competition is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate what makes a village special – and for us, that is without doubt our community and our amazing volunteers. ❤️

It was lovely to bring together so many of the people who quietly give their time throughout the year to make Eversley such a welcoming, caring and vibrant place to live.

A huge thank you to everyone involved with our Community Café, Gardening Club, Speed Watch, Pond Volunteers, Litter Pickers, Village Hall trustees, Neighbourhood Plan team, Yelabus organisers ,Duke of Edinburgh volunteers, and all the other residents and volunteers who help with projects, events and activities across our parish.

The judges had the opportunity to meet some of our volunteers at the Community Café and hear about the fantastic work taking place across Eversley. We then showed them some of our community projects, including Cross Green Pond project and our village planting and our Borrow-a-Book boxes.

Whether we win an award or not, today was a lovely reminder of just how much is achieved in Eversley through people simply caring about where they live and being willing to give a little of their time.

To every single person who volunteers, helps, supports, bakes, plants, picks litter, looks after our village, organises events or simply steps forward when something needs doing – THANK YOU. ❤️

You are what makes Eversley so special, and we are incredibly proud of our wonderful community.

Our Borrow a Book Box at The Chequers bus stop has been updated.

We now have:

📗 Adult Books – for grown-up readers
⭐ Children’s Books – especially for our younger readers

With over 700 books in our collection, which are regularly rotated, there should always be something new to discover.

It couldn’t be simpler:

📖 Borrow a book
❤️ Enjoy reading it
🔄 Return it when you’ve finished so someone else can enjoy it too.

The boxes are there for everyone in our community, so please help us look after them and keep the books circulating.

This is the first of what we hope will be Borrow a Book Boxes at bus stops across Eversley. 🚌📚

Help Eversley’s Wildlife This Summer! 🦔🐦🐝As the warm and dry weather continues across Hampshire, natural water sources like ditches and ponds in our local commons and green spaces are drying up fast. Our village’s birds, hedgehogs, bees, and other small garden visitors urgently need our help to find fresh drinking water.You can make a life-saving difference right here in Eversley with a few simple steps:• Put out shallow dishes: Use a saucer, old baking tray, or shallow bowl filled with fresh water. Place it in a shaded spot where animals feel safe from predators.• Add pebbles for insects: Drop a few stones or pebbles into the water dish so bees and flying insects have a safe landing spot to drink without drowning.• Keep it clean: Change the water daily to keep it fresh and prevent the spread of disease.• Check existing ponds: If you have a garden pond, ensure there is a gentle ramp, log, or shallow edge so hedgehogs can climb out safely if they take a dip.Thank you for looking out for our local wildlife.
