Just a quick update on Houghton cemetery

It has now had the grass cutting done and strimming, the hedges however can't be done until nesting season is over, in terms of bins apparently there are enough throughout the cemetery and on today's inspection none of them were full. If anyone has any further issues please don't hesitate to contact us

🚨 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗚𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗘 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘

Let us be clear: Labour’s handling of the National Glass Centre was a failure from start to finish.

They sold the site to the University of Sunderland, yet failed to be honest and transparent with local people about the risks that decision could create for the Centre’s long-term future. They then allowed uncertainty to drag on, failed to act when there was still time to make a meaningful difference, and rushed through an Article 4 Direction just days before the election. That was not leadership. It was a last-minute attempt to cover for years of inaction.

We will not make promises we cannot guarantee. The future of the National Glass Centre depends on decisions which are not entirely in the Council’s hands.

But we are taking action. We have pressed the University of Sunderland to provide clear answers to more than 50 key questions raised by Save the National Glass Centre

𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝟰 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆! We have made clear that every necessary step must be progressed at pace, ensuring the Council secures the quickest lawful route available to protect the building from demolition.

The National Glass Centre is far too important to Sunderland’s identity, heritage and future to be allowed to disappear without a fight.
