It is fundamentally important we, as a nation, create opportunity and a future, for our young adults.

More and more are NEETs, a term I don't like.

The welfare budget is out of control and it was the Tories that created this mess.

Now Labour don't have the ability to cut the bill.

And we have record numbers of foreign born people claiming.

It simply cannot go on.

We have no option but to turn the economy around. The answer is not debt and an under productive workforce. The answer is creating opportunity and reducing welfare.

This isn't about cutting benefits. It is about creating opportunity.

Just this morning 'Markets' are reacting to huge National debt globally, and the bubble of investment in ai. The rates on Government debt are now at the rate during the financial crash of 2008.

UK debt is approaching 100% of GDP.

This means the interest the Government pay to service the debt is going up and it is likely to feed into increases in mortgages and tax increases.

Inflation is also going up and will remain high due to the war in Iran and the likely impact on food prices due to the heat in the UK.

These things in isolation are bad. Together they will be causing the UK Treasury headaches as the 'buffer' has already been halved.

And the backdrop of PM Burnham looking to raise more debt is a terrible idea.

Reform believe in a conservative economy where debt is not the answer. Creating opportunity and a future of work for our young people is.

The direction of Kirklees is changing.

100 days ago, on 7th May, voters made Reform UK the largest party on Kirklees Council. You voted for change, common sense, plain speaking, and value for money.

We should not have lost the first 70 days to other parties playing political games, but once we finally got the keys and took control, we got straight to work.

While some tried to spin the summer recess as us doing nothing, recess happens every year for every party. We just carried on working through it instead of shouting online, meeting voters, handling constituency casework, sitting on committees, and finalising our policy work.

Our policy statement will be ready to go to cabinet this September.

Thank you for your support. We are here to work with everyone, whatever colour they wear, for the good of every resident in Kirklees. Old habits that waste money and block progress have held this council back for too long. That changes now.

Less talk, more action.

Thank you to everyone who turned out to vote in the Almondbury ward yesterday.

Especially our Reform voters.

A huge thank you for the way Graham Haigh conducted himself running a campaign focused on positive and not gutter politics.

Also for the tireless campaigning he did, he deserved better.

Congratulations to the winner but be in no doubt. The scrutiny we will exert from this day forward, from the Reform UK Huddersfield branch will be relentless.

Almondbury is about to see, in technicolour, the visible and active Reform councillors in action, day after day, solving issues and being present in Almondbury ward.

Huddersfield Reform branch are going to push to have councillor voting records made public again. We believe in transparency and so why the records were removed before May remains to be seen.

It is going to change.

Onwards and upwards!!
