Residents in Hemingford Grey and Hemingford Abbots told us they wanted better connections to St Ives and St Neots.

Through the Bus Network Review, we’ve worked with local residents, councils and Ben Obese-Jecty MP to explore how we could improve connections 💪

The revised proposals include a new Monday to Saturday service connecting the Hemingfords with St Ives and St Neots.

The proposal will now go to our Transport Committee and Combined Authority Board for consideration.

Getting your foot in the door after university can be incredibly tough.

Despite graduating with a law degree from King’s College London, Marco sent out hundreds of job applications and heard nothing back.

That all changed when the DWP and the Movement to Work scheme connected him with an internship. Rather than expecting years of experience, they eased him in with a two-week pre-placement, followed by a six-week internship.

Now? Marco is their Digital and Technology Assistant. He’s managing social media, handling tech support, and even getting the chance to lead a team. He credits the hands-on environment for letting him use his initiative and learn on the job as the business grows.

For local businesses and employers, Marco’s journey is a fantastic reminder: internships and placement schemes aren't just about doing a good deed. They are a brilliant way to uncover highly motivated, capable people who just need an opportunity to show what they can do.

Has someone ever taken a chance on you for your first big break? Or has your business found a star team member through an internship scheme? We'd love to hear your stories below!

Paul Bristow caught up with progress at Peterborough Youth Hub at Peterborough United. It opened in November 2025 and has already made a huge difference for young people in our region.

He toured the hub and met with the manager Dean, and Jess, a young person supported by the team at the hub. Already more than 30 people have secured jobs thanks to support from the hub, with nearly 400 young people supported in total.

The success of the Peterborough hub has led to the Combined Authority starting work to open a second Youth Hub in Wisbech. Fenland has some of the worst educational and skills outcomes in the whole of England, and a new Youth Hub aims to ensure more young people can access the support, skills and opportunities they need to succeed.

Paul Bristow said: "This has been a fantastic success, I'm so proud of it, but I'm not just content with doing it in Peterborough."

Mayor Paul Bristow visited two businesses who are showcasing Peterborough as a hub for life science innovation 🧑‍🔬

Both Coloplast and NEPsource are sitting within priority sectors of the region’s Local Growth Plan, which includes a Mayoral ambition to triple the size of the economy by 2050.

World class innovation is happening in our county, and that makes our economy stronger. All contributing to the mayor’s goal of creating a healthier, wealthier and happier community.

Mayor Paul Bristow said: "It’s great to see businesses choosing Peterborough for growth, whilst also building on our strong agri-tech and agri-food sector."

Good news for residents in Bretton! 🚌

Following concerns raised by residents about the planned gas works disrupting a vital bus route, we brought together Cadent, Stagecoach and Peterborough City Council to find a way to keep buses serving Bretton.

A solution has now been agreed which will allow buses to continue through the road closure, with Cadent providing gate personnel to help buses through when needed 👏

There may still be some delays while the works take place, but we’ll continue working with partners to address any concerns around disruption.
