Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

Today we’re down at the Moors Car Park as part of a road safety campaign which is child safety seat checking, and also sharing road safety information as part of the Vision Zero Campaign! This highlights the dangers of driving involving the fatal five:

👉Careless driving
👉Speeding
👉Using a mobile phone
👉Not wearing a seatbelt
👉Drink/drug driving

We are joined by our colleagues from Highways England, West Yorkshire Police and Bradford Council who are all here to provide safety advice and information as well as demonstrating their roles and vehicles!

New year, new fire appliance!

Early in January we received our brand new MAN 4x4 rural firefighting appliance, and what a beast it is!

Our new pump along with the rest of the fleet has been designed to keep us safer from contaminants and is packed with new technology. The new features include:

👉 A Full clean cab environment
👉 Breathing apparatus sets moved to the lockers instead of being within the cab
👉 A 2,000 litre water tank, increasing our capacity from our old appliance
👉 electronic pumping system
👉 automatic ladder gantry system
👉 Ability to negotiate difficult to access areas

🚨Incident🚨 TOC: 00:43

We were called to a building fire at a local nursing home. On arrival the fire was developing in the laundry room with heavy smoke logging, our crews used one hose reel, two breathing apparatus and positive pressure ventilation to deal with the incident. We were backed up by appliances from Keighley and Bingley. Swift actions by the crew prevented a more serious incident developing.

Well done to the efforts of all involved and we are thankful no one was hurt in this incident.

🚒 Incident 🚒 4/9/25

An RTC occurred on valley drive. One of our firefighters who was off duty was passing at the time and initiated basic life support to the casualty involved after obtaining our defibrillator from station, accompanied by another firefighter. They were quickly joined by two ambulance crews from nearby Menston Ambulance Station and a critical care paramedic.

Our firefighters assisted YAS in providing life support by the attending paramedics and the casualty was taken to hospital with continued care and treatment. Two other neighbouring fire crews also assisted with the incident. Our thoughts remain with them and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
