Crofting Commission We regulate and promote crofting in Scotland, creating a successful crofting system that positively Crofts range in size with an average croft being 5ha.

Crofting is a system of landholding which is unique to Scotland. A croft is relatively small agricultural land holding which is normally held in tenancy. The Crofting Commission is working to secure the future of crofting by creating and promoting a well regulated crofting system that positively contributes to the sustainability of rural communities. The Commission is a Non-Departmental Public Bod

The Scottish Government is carrying out its Economic Conditions of Crofting Survey, and a selection of crofters have been invited to take part.

If you have received an invitation, please take the time to complete the survey. ✅

Your response matters because the survey helps build a clearer picture of what crofting is really like today – including the costs of crofting, household income, investment in crofts and plans for the future.

📊 The findings will help the Scottish Government understand the challenges and opportunities facing crofters and will provide evidence to help inform future policy, support and decisions affecting crofting. The results also feed into the Scottish Government's report to the Scottish Parliament on the economic conditions of crofting.

The more crofters who respond, the stronger the evidence will be. 🌱
