Our next work party will be on Saturday 11th April 2026 from 10am till 1pm and we are going to be doing maintenance work on the new Stag Beetle Wood in Bourne Park. This will include checking on the young trees, clearing away any big weeds from the tree guards, ensuring the stakes are still upright and giving them a new mulch to supress weeds for their second growing season. They got off to a good start last year despite the dry weather and hopefully all the rain early this year will have helped their roots establish even more.
Parking: In the car park in Bourne Park at the Stoke Park Drive End. What3words: prompts.tabs.abandons
For our work party we suggest you wear your old clothes and sturdy old boots - preferably not trainers. Please bring your own strong, gardening type gloves. Be prepared for any sort of British weather – cold, hot, windy, rainy. All the necessary tools, spare gloves and equipment will be provided.
Don’t forget to bring your own drink and snack for the morning – we always stop for a break and a chat together.

If you can’t join us but are out and about in the Park, please consider taking with you a carrier bag and gardening gloves to pick up any litter you see. Obviously, please be careful when doing this to ensure there is no broken glass or needles amongst the rubbish – give things a kick or take a stick with you to investigate before picking up. Better still use a litter picker if you have one. Every little helps – thank you.
Finally, we would love to see you on one of our work party events but if practical conservation work is not for you, you can still help us by letting us know if you see or hear of any problems in the Park.
