At Christmas, it’s more important than ever to keep bagged waste out of the recycling. The machinery at the recycling plant cannot handle bagged waste meaning entire loads can go un-recycled. This Christmas, keep recycling clean, dry and loose.

Never put batteries in the recycling bin... or any household bin. Many supermarkets have battery collection pods and you can also take them to the Household Waste and Recycling Centres. Batteries can contain hazardous materials, such as mercury, lead and cadmium. If batteries are not disposed of correctly, they can cause fires in waste collection vehicles, household bins and at Recycling Centres.
