Isleworth & Syon School Exceptional education and outstanding opportunities in a modern boys' school with traditional values. https://linktr.ee/isleworthsyon

"Building on the long-standing traditions of the school, staff support the development of ‘courteous, respectful and calm’ young men, reflecting the school’s well-established values." Taking a place at Isleworth & Syon School means joining a school with a long and successful history dating back to 1630. Over our 400-year history, we can point to sustained success for the nearly 100,000 students wh

o have passed through our doors. We offer expertise and pedigree – we do not have to just tell you that we are successful, but we can show you that this is the case. Everything that we do in school is focused on a singular goal – getting the very best out of our boys. That’s the Isleworth & Syon way – and we are committed to it on a daily basis. So how do we ensure that boys thrive?

• We have established a culture of high standards – every student knows the Isleworth & Syon way
• We recruit only the best teachers, subject specialists who are, or will become, experts in teaching boys
• We teach a curriculum which provides high-quality learning experiences structured specifically for our boys
• We help boys explore their futures, through careers education that relies not on stereotypes but on boys’ own interests
• We connect with you, the parents/carers, working in partnership to maximise your child’s potential. The school website should give you a flavour of what we have to offer including top-class facilities, a broad and diverse programme of extra-curricular activities, an outstanding pastoral system, and much more. This academic year, we have partnered with Network Rail and South Western Railway as part of the 'Rail Safe Wessex' programme which aims to keep young people safe by raising awareness of the risks on station platforms, on the train and at railway crossings - both to themselves and others around them.

To complement this, we work closely with the British Transport Police to ensure high standards with students travelling to and from school as well as educate students in our weekly newsletter, assemblies and workshops.

As a result, we have been given a Rail Safe Wessex plaque to display in school, honouring our commitment to keeping students safe on the railways. We are also listed as a Rail Safe Wessex school at our local station.

Farewell, Year 13! 🎓 Before half-term, we gathered for a special Year 13 Leavers’ Assembly, celebrating a group of students whose I&S journey began almost seven years ago.

Led largely by the students themselves, the event was filled with memories, laughter and reflection. From heartfelt speeches and the much-loved “boy to man” photo montage to the student-voted Sixth Form Awards, it was a fitting tribute to a year group that has made a lasting impact on our school community.

A highlight of the afternoon was a fantastic live performance from our vocational music students. We are incredibly proud of everything this cohort has achieved and look forward to seeing where their next chapter takes them, and hope to see them joining our rapidly-growing Alumni Network.

Live from the Science Department! Yesterday, we welcomed 23 partridge eggs into school as part of an exciting conservation project, and the first chick has already started hatching!

The eggs are currently incubating in the science department, and we’re live-streaming their progress on YouTube so students, families and the wider community can follow the journey in real time.

As part of the project, students in Years 7 and 8 will take part in a special conservation lesson this week and will have the opportunity to meet the chicks once they have hatched. A fantastic hands-on learning experience, bringing science, conservation and the natural world to life.

Our Year 12 Film students are currently producing a documentary exploring reading and literacy in schools, combining their coursework project with our whole-school literacy strategy.

As well as interviewing I&S students and staff, the Year 12s arranged and filmed an interview with the head of Hounslow Schools Library Service at Osterley Library, discussing changing attitudes to reading and the challenges facing libraries today.

From filming to editing, students are leading the project with minimal staff input, managing every stage of production themselves using professional equipment and software. We can’t wait to see the finished documentary!
