Last Sunday I was made aware that the security fence around the site on scotch estate was open and kids were playing on the site.

I attended this myself with it being a weekend and what I considered an urgent matter, to put the fence back and secure the site.

While I was there, 5 young kids were playing on the site, and thought it was allowed since the fence was open. They were no bother at all when asked to come out.

I contacted the security firm to let them know and raised my concerns about the security of the site, giving that there are gaps under some parts of the fence that are big enough for kids to crawl under.

I have since received an update that community responders have been tasked to patrol this location. Can I also ask parents to remind kids to keep clear of the site to prevent any incidents.

So nice to see progress

I raised this issue last week as I know in recent years this footpath had been neglected and overgrown, not this year!

Any issues I come across will be reported as soon as possible. Please help be our eyes and ears in the ward so we can keep our areas nice and tidy.

Metro Replacement Bus Service

🚧 Due to Network Rail improvement works, 🦺 there will be no train services between Brockley Whins and South Hylton on the following dates:

🗓️ Saturday 27 June – Sunday 28 June
🗓️ Saturday 4 July – Sunday 5 July
🗓️ Saturday 11 July - Sunday 12 July

🚌 A 901 replacement bus service will operate in both directions between Brockley Whins and South Hylton throughout the closure.

‼️ Passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and plan ahead before travelling.

Work has been carried out on these couple of trees in the ward as they caused concern with branches breaking off. They were potentially dangerous for pedestrians using the public walkway so they have been cut down to make safe. Thanks to the team.

ISSUE RESOLVED! Thanks to everyone for sharing

‼️For anyone who might be in the area, be careful on Shaftesbury Avenue where the new self storage container site is being built. Some of the rails are loose and 1 is sticking out into the path. Please be aware the end is sharp!! ‼️

I have contacted the company who have assured me they will be out today to make this safe! I have tied it back as best I could but please take care if passing.

Yesterday us 3 Bede councillors visited Portlock community gardens on Low Simonside and seen what they have been getting up to during their new Friday night project which has recently started from 4-8pm every Friday.
It was great to see people coming together and getting involved with some fantastic projects they are working on.
I would encourage anyone to go along and see what it’s about. There is plenty for the kids to enjoy and learn as well. Swap the computers and gadgets for some great outdoor fun and experiences.
