This morning as the BMDC Cabinet Member with Highways under my portfolio, I met with the guys cutting and clearing the dangerously overgrown weeds on the verges and pavements on Glen Lee Lane and Shaw Lane. This was reported to Highways by,

Councillor Angela Jayne Baker Keighley East Reform UK

The weeds were forcing drivers into oncoming traffic and pedestrians onto the highway.

It is just a job to these guys, but to residents and users it is much more.

Now due to their work, this is a much safer environment for drivers and pedestrians alike.

🇬🇧 REFORM UK STRENGTHENS BRADFORD’S FLAG PROTOCOL

Yesterday, the Reform UK administration successfully secured amendments to Bradford Council’s Flag Protocol, strengthening the recognition of the Union Flag and introducing a clearer, more consistent approach to the flags flown on our civic buildings.

Our amendment establishes the Union Flag as the principal civic flag of the United Kingdom, to be displayed with pride on Bradford’s civic buildings as a symbol of our shared national identity and civic unity.

We also strengthened the protocol by ensuring continued recognition of our Armed Forces, the nations of the United Kingdom, Remembrance, Yorkshire, the Commonwealth, the emergency services, the victims of the Bradford City Fire and other civic occasions of significant importance to our district.

Finally, any request to fly a flag outside the agreed protocol must now receive the approval of Full Council.

We believe Bradford’s civic buildings should celebrate the values and traditions that unite all of us.
