The weather forecast is looking 🌧️ over the next week...

If you come across floodwater on the road, don’t drive through it.

You can’t see how deep it is, the road surface may be damaged underneath, and just a small amount of moving water can sweep a vehicle away.

Turn around, find another route, and stay safe.

Firefighters remain at the scene of a fire in London Road, Stanway.

Crews are working to monitor hotspots. A fire investigation has been carried out this afternoon which found the fire was caused accidentally.

This part of London Road remains closed, please avoid the area.

Our firefighters have been tackling a fire at a pub restaurant on London Road, Stanway, Colchester, overnight.

As of 6.30am, firefighters are still at the scene and are expected to remain for some time.

London Road in Stanway near the roundabout with Essex Yeomanry Way (A1124), on the stretch towards Western Approach is closed, so please avoid the area throughout the morning and allow extra time for your journey.

Sainsbury’s on Western Approach is open as normal.

Let's give a warm welcome to our new neighbours Essex Police who are now next door to our crews at Dovercourt Fire Station

We worked closely with Essex Police and the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex to make the best use of our footprint in Dovercourt. Being based next to each other helps us to work closer than ever to help keep Dovercourt and Harwich safe.

Our Ambulance colleagues have access to both sites which means we’re able to form closer relationships with our colleagues likely to respond to incidents alongside us 🚒 🚓 🚑

We hope to hold some joint open days in the future, watch this space...

Let's give a round of appaws for Fire Dog Jarvis! 🐶 👏

Our very good boy has received a national commendation from PDSA after a pawsome decade of search and rescue service with our ECFRS Urban Search & Rescue team 🐶 🚒

After an incredible decade of life-saving service, Fire Dog Jarvis has received a PDSA Animal Awards Commendation for his bravery, devotion and dedication to duty.

From major incidents here in the UK to specialist training across Europe, Jarvis and his handler, Watch Manager Graham Currie, have worked side by side through some incredibly challenging situations.

Jarvis retired from active duty in 2024, but thankfully we still get to see plenty of him. He regularly returns to the fire station and even joins Bailey and Fizz for training exercises. Once a fire dog, always a fire dog! 🚒🐕
