Kettering deserves a town centre that feels safe for everyone — and right now, residents have a real opportunity to influence the decisions that will help make that happen.

North Northamptonshire Council has launched a consultation on a proposed Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for Kettering town centre. Many of you will remember that a PSPO was previously in place, helping to manage issues that were having a negative impact on our town centre.

A PSPO is a tool available to councils under the Anti‑Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. It allows restrictions to be put in place within a defined public area where certain behaviours are causing harm or nuisance to the community.

The proposed order aims to address concerns we hear regularly from residents and businesses - anti‑social behaviour and street drinking, unauthorised leafleting and other behaviours that affect safety, wellbeing and confidence in the town centre.

This is your chance to help shape the future of Kettering’s town centre. Your feedback genuinely matters.

Dog owners, you’re going to love this.

A resident recently highlighted about the Dog Friendly Scheme, supported by Kettering Town Centre Partnership from a few years back — and good news, some stickers are still available!

Thanks to KTCP for ‘digging’ them out. Lucky Chuck's and Kitsch Mitch are now proudly displaying theirs, with a couple more businesses lined up.

If you run or know a business in the Town Centre that wants visitors to know they’re dog friendly, please get in touch with me.

Let’s make Kettering even more welcoming for our four‑legged friends so everyone can enjoy a snack stop or a coffee break without giving you the “why are we outside?” stare. 🐶👀

Thank you KTCP for developing this initiative.

I popped into BOOTS in the town centre yesterday to drop off the blister packs we’ve been saving at home for months.

Did you know they offer a recycling service for them? You can even earn Boots Advantage Card points at the same time.

Just drop your empty blister packs into the in‑store collection box. Through Boots’ partner MyGroup, the waste is turned back into raw materials or made into new products.

A simple way to slim down your general waste bin and recycle more 🌍♻️

I will pop some links for more details in the comments.

Northamptonshire Police has launched its ‘Eyes Wide Open’ campaign this year, working alongside the NSPCC to help parents understand online risks and support safer internet use at home.

🙏 Please take a few minutes to watch this video - it is incredible powerful and informative for everyone, especially parents and guardians.

It shows how harmful content doesn’t always wait to be found - it can appear in young people’s feeds without them actively searching for it.

Many adults experience the same thing in their own algorithms too.

⛔️ Please note: the video contains some flashing images.

🚶‍♂️ Help Needed: Identifying the Owner of the Footpath Northampton Road ➜ Westhill Close

Many of you will know and regularly use this footpath, which - to my understanding, has been in place for several decades.

Part of the path (marked in blue) falls under the responsibility of North Northamptonshire Council (NNC). However, NNC have confirmed that the majority of the path does not fall under their responsibility (marked in red).

The Land Registry shows the land as unregistered I am told, and despite contacting several teams and individuals, I have not yet been able to identify who the owner might be.

🕵️‍♂️ Can You Help?

I’m asking residents for any information at all that might help us trace the ownership or history of this path.

Useful details could include:

• Historic use - how long you’ve known the path to be there
• Past maintenance - if you’ve ever seen anyone repairing, cutting back, or working on the path
• Local knowledge - stories, recollections, or information passed down over the years
• Old maps or documents - anything showing the path’s existence or ownership
• Neighbour observations - if you or neighbours have noticed activity on the land

📩 How to Share Information

Please comment below or email me with anything you know - even small details may help us piece this together.

Thank you all in advance.

Lee
