For some time, we have been highlighting the dangers of having no signalled crossing at Morrisons on Holderness Road.

It's time for Morrisons and the council to work together to get this problem solved before there's an accident.

🌿 Drain Bank Update

Residents have been in touch about how overgrown the drain bank has become, along with concerns about fly-tipping and rubbish.

I arranged a site visit with Council officers so we could look at the problems together. The Council has now agreed to make sure the grassed area is maintained more regularly and that the wild-growth area is properly managed.

Hopefully we’ll see a much-needed clean-up and cut very soon! 👍

20 years is not enough for the suffering caused. Possibly no sentence could be. Thinking of all those affected 😔

We lead on the shocking and harrowing Legacy Independent Funeral Directors case.

Owner Robert Bush is due to be sentenced today for 67 offences.

UPDATE - actions in progress:
1) Two broken bins are being replaced.
2) Enforcement notices are being served.
3) Weekly monitoring is ongoing.
4) I'll find out about bin locks - they're not communal bins for everyone!

Thanks to everyone who has got in touch to complain about these bins and all the crap around them/ coming out of them. They have been reported and I have asked for urgent action to get them cleared & speak to the businesses responsible.

🤝 Community Action Day – Estcourt Street.

We had a really positive action day on Estcourt Street with Humberside Police, the Council's Neighbourhood Nuisance team & PROBE. All working together to tackle issues in the area and make sure residents know how and where to report concerns.

Extra security gadgets were given out and sweets for the kids! We wished we had ice creams🍦😅

We had some great conversations with local people and picked up useful information so we know what the priorities are locally. Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us.

Former Zetland Arms – urgent action update:

Residents have had to live with the fear, danger and disruption caused by this site for far too long. The building needs boarding up.

Following sustained pressure, Hull City Council has now opened a new anti-social behaviour investigation. An enforcement visit found broken windows, damaged fencing, unsafe access points, drug-related waste and serious fire risks, including a barbecue and gas canister that could have led to arson.

Action is now underway to:

✅ Get the owner to secure the site.
✅ Remove immediate fire and safety risks.
✅ Work with Humberside Police to tackle criminal activity on the site.
✅ Deal with equipment stored on site.
✅ Investigate site management breaches.

This site must be made safe before someone is seriously hurt. We will keep pressing for urgent action and will not allow this to drift again.

Call 999 if anyone is in immediate danger. Report other incidents to Humberside Police on 101.
