With the cost of living going up all the time Cllr Mark Durrant Frsa has supported the excellent KVA's Good Food Group and Surplus Hub Surplus To Supper Club at the Malden Centre with a £1,000 councillor grant. The hub helps hundreds of residents and voluntary organisations locally with food donations. In doing so they also help prevent food waste. A fantastic project run by a lovely group of volunteers. They are always looking for donations and help. Find out more below:

Sunshine, street food and live music 🎉 An all round great day at the Surbiton Festival last Saturday.

There were stalls from local community groups, and traders selling local honey and homemade sauces.

It was good to be out with our MP and Lib Dem councillors, catching up with residents, stallholders and local businesses.

Thank you to the volunteers who organise the festival every year, and to everyone who came along.

Exit Slip road from A3 at Tolworth CLOSED

Local councillor Helen Grocott says: “am very disappointed with TfL about their lack of coordination and communication with local residents on this issue.

Please read the email I have sent them this morning.”
——————————//—————————/—

“This morning, I have been contacted by very angry local residents to ask me why the exit slip road from the A3 onto Tolworth Rise South towards Tolworth roundabout has been closed?

I have received no correspondence from TfL on the matter so am writing to you to find out.

As you have already informed us, TfL will be carrying out NIGHT WORKS on the A3 for maintenance and safety issues from 5 October which I have informed residents about, so why has this exit been closed over this weekend from 8am - 6pm without any prior warning and before 5 October?

Ingress routes off the A3 that serve @4000 homes of residents living in the

Sunray & King Georges Ward

and a similar number living in Old Malden Ward

and a similar number living in Tolworth Ward

and a similar number living in Alexander Ward

who access this slip road from the A3 at Tolworth to travel to and from their homes have suddenly become cut off this weekend with no prior warning.

This will cause them and any other residents wanting to exit the A3 at Tolworth considerable inconvenience.

They will now have to drive up to the Ace of Spades roundabout (that also still has roadworks) back down the A3 and round the Tolworth roundabout to access all routes to Tolworth, Kingston, Sutton, Epsom, Worcester Park, Chessington etc….

To local residents, there seem to be repeated traffic decisions made by TfL without any apparent due consideration for them or their journeys.

I have copied in Sir Ed Davey to this email as his office are waiting to set up a meeting with himself, TfL and local Ward Councillors to discuss some of these ongoing issues. I will add this current issue to our Agenda.”

You may have seen the main character on the news, but the contribution of our Kingston members to goes beyond the leaders speech. Many of our councillors and activists spoke in key debates and fringes about defence, housing, business and celebrated 10 years since our Richmond Park by-election victory 🔶🔶

🔶 Cllr Sue Ansari attended the ‘Best Start in Life’ launch yesterday afternoon at Tolworth’s Children’s Centre. Chatted with some families and carers who are taking up this great offer.

Achieving for Children were there giving families a great welcome and Your Healthcare staff also there to help parents and carers too - It’s great to see such fab collaboration between partners.

Please reach out to Sue if you’re interested, for more details anytime..this offer is universal for our children all over the borough and so much is happening!

The facilities in Tolworth CC are very inclusive including a sensory room and safe outdoor play where children in the adjoining infant school often lean over the fence chatting to the centre’s toddlers - a real caring family feel to this centre and others in Kingston including the great Chessington Children’s centre!
