A welcoming space where you can be yourself.

One of our founders, David, attended the ADHD peer support group at Wolverhampton Sanctuary Hub last week and wanted to share his experience:

“It felt welcoming, and I didn’t feel judged. People could speak openly about what they’ve struggled with and share things that have worked for them. It’s definitely worth checking out.”

At Fjords Community CIC, we know how much it can mean to speak with people who understand some of what you’re going through.

The hub’s free groups are open to anyone aged 18 and over, with no appointment or referral needed:

🎲 Games — Wednesdays, 6–7.30pm
🎨 Arts & Crafts — Saturdays, 1–2.30pm
☕ Coffee & Cope — Sundays, 1.30–3pm
💜 ADHD Peer Support — every other Tuesday, 6–7.30pm. Contact the hub to confirm the next date.

Bullying is never OK. No child should have to dread going to school, opening their messages or being themselves.

Please take some time to check in with your children. Ask how their friendships are, whether anyone is making them feel uncomfortable or leaving them out, and whether they feel safe.

Sometimes “How was school?” gets an automatic “Fine.” Try asking:
💬 “Was there anything that upset you today?”
💬 “Who do you feel comfortable spending time with?”
💬 “Is there anything you’ve wanted to tell me but haven’t known how?”

A lot of children suffer in silence. They may feel embarrassed, worry about making things worse or simply not know how to start the conversation. Sometimes they’ve bottled things up for so long that getting the words out feels impossible.

Let them know they can tell you—or another trusted adult—without being blamed or brushed off. If talking feels too difficult, they could write it down or send a message. Listen calmly, take them seriously and work out the next steps together.

And please have the other conversation too: how does your child treat others? “Banter”, exclusion and hurtful messages can cause real harm, even when someone says they were only joking.

Every child deserves to feel safe, included and respected. ❤️

Could you be part of the Fellowship of Fjords? 🌱💚

We’ve already raised £73, with another £13 pledged every month. To everyone who has donated—thank you. Your support means a lot to our small community organisation.

At Fjords Community CIC, we bring people together through nature, growing and practical activities, with a particular passion for helping neurodivergent people and families feel welcome and understood.

We want to keep showing up for our community, and small donations can help us do that.

🌱 £1 as a one-off helps.
🌱 £1 a month adds up.
🌱 Sharing this post helps us reach more people.

If 2,000 people gave just £1 each, that would raise £2,000 towards our work. You don’t have to give a large amount to be part of something worthwhile.

We are planning to place a shed at the Portobello Community Garden, which will allow us to run workshops and activities for the local community and schools, feel free to get in touch about partnerships.

We know not everyone can donate, and there’s no pressure. A share or a few words about why you support Fjords would also mean a great deal.

Thank you for helping us grow. 💚

We’re concerned to read this account about the planned Willenhall Christmas light switch-on.

We’ve met Cllr Simran Cheema to discuss how Fjords Community CIC could support the community around Portobello Community Centre if it reopens. During that conversation, her care for the local community and enthusiasm for supporting residents came across clearly.

Fjords Community CIC is politically neutral. We welcome working with anyone who wants to make a positive difference for our communities.

We would be concerned if political differences or personal interests were affecting decisions about community events. We sincerely hope that isn’t what has happened here.

Our Walsall could you please clarify why the event planned for 20 November has reportedly been cancelled, whether an alternative is confirmed, and how local community organisations will be involved?

These celebrations matter to families, local businesses and residents. We hope everyone involved can work together to give Willenhall a Christmas celebration to look forward to. 🎄

IMPORTANT STATEMENT
To all the wonderful Willenhall residents

From my heart I feel I need to share what’s going on behind the scenes at Walsall Council. Last year we had a magical Christmas Light Switch On and it filled me with so much pride and joy seeing the community come together as one to celebrate in our wonderful town.

I have been quietly working behind the scenes since June 2026 to organise this years festive light display and switch on event in partnership with community organisations and members.

In June, I conducted a site visit in Willenhall town to identity locations where additional Christmas lighting could go. Starting from St Giles up to the Lock Museum, outside the library and in the town centre. In July of this, year I met with the manufacturers to hand select the Christmas lights and have since been working on organising the switch on event, with all necessary paperwork and risk assessments submitted to the Council.

It was difficult to secure external sponsorship for this and I reluctantly approached Walsall Council to use the Labour Governments Pride in Place Impact fund money which required sign off from the Deputy Leader of the Council.

However, due to sheer self interest, cancel culture, personal vendettas and egotistical point scoring, Reform UK have cancelled the Willenhall Christmas Light Switch On on 20 November in Willenhall.

I received a call from an Executive Director from Walsall Council last week who informed me the Leader had instructed him the event on 20th November needs to be cancelled as she wanted to turn the lights on herself.

I responded saying she’s more than welcome to attend and switch on the lights on 20th. However, this was not enough as she didn’t want me working on or organising anything whatsoever for the town.

I am a Willenhall resident first and foremost, and for those who know me I care so deeply about fighting for the town at every level. I just wanted the town to have a magical Christmas. I am so sorry it has come to this. Christmas is a time of goodwill, coming together as one and putting any differences aside. It’s a shame Reform don’t feel the same way.

To all who expressed an interest, wanted to get involved and help, thank you for your support. And to the town, I’m so sorry I can’t deliver the magical Christmas I wanted to.

Reform may come back and say the lights were due to be switched on at a later date in November. Ameys (contracter) work on installing the lights and the 20th would have been absolutely possible.

I’m in shock and disbelief they would stoop so low. This was not about politics but about community. Once again I’m sorry 💔

Could you spare £1 to help Fjords grow? 🌱

We know times are hard, and we don’t want anyone feeling pressured to give, But we also want people to know that £1 is absolutely worth giving.

If 2,000 people gave £1 each, that would be £2,000 towards our community work. Small amounts really do add up when people come together.

At Fjords Community CIC, we’re creating community growing spaces, working with schools and nurseries on growing activities and litter picks, and delivering talks about mental health, neurodiversity and how nature can help.

We want to keep doing this work and build a stable future for Fjords. Our bigger ambition is an eco-friendly, self-sufficient smallholding, working towards being off-grid—a community hub where people and other organisations can come together to grow food, learn practical skills and spend time in nature.

Every donation helps us carry on with the work happening now and take steps towards that future.

We’ve chosen Zeffy because Fjords receives 100% of your donation, with no platform or payment processing fees taken out. At checkout, you can also choose to support Zeffy with a separate voluntary contribution. That’s completely optional—you can give £1 to Fjords without adding anything extra.

If you’re able to help, whether once or regularly, we’d really appreciate it:

https://www.zeffy.com/en-GB/donation-form/fellowship-of-fjords

And if you can’t donate, we understand. Sharing this post, telling someone about us, or simply following our page still makes you part of Fjords.

Thank you to everyone helping us to build a better future. It means a lot. 🥰

From all the Fjord's Community CIC Team 🥰

One conversation led to practical support that made a real difference. 🌿

When we approached Krinkels UK for help preparing St. Chad’s church grounds for a Family Fun Day, their team stepped up in such a fantastic way —bringing people, equipment and plenty of hard work.

Their contribution supported the work of Fjords Tip Top Day Nursery Bilston and local volunteers, who had already cleared the overgrown laurel, and done litterpicks helping us welcome around 500 people to the event.

This is the kind of partnership we want to build: local businesses using their skills and resources alongside community organisations to make things happen.

Thank you to Alison, Sam and everyone involved at Krinkels UK. We’re grateful for your support and excited to work together again. 💚

If your business would like to support Fjords Community CIC through volunteering, materials or practical expertise, please get in touch.

When someone sends you a photo wearing their Fjords supporter hoodie at work, it does make you feel pretty good! 💚

Big shout-out to Will, proudly representing Fjords Community CIC while going about his working day. He’s also the guy behind our website, so his support goes well beyond wearing the hoodie!

As a small community organisation, seeing people proud to support what we’re building means a lot.

Thanks, Will, for your hard work, your support and for flying the Fjords flag! 🌱

Neurodiversity, mental health and the power of nature.

We had a fantastic evening speaking with the Coldfield Fuschia Society and Gardening Guild about something at the very heart of Fjords Community CIC — the connection between people and nature.

David led an open discussion exploring neurodiversity, mental health and the profound positive impact that gardening and spending time outdoors can have on our wellbeing.

The conversation combined research with his lived experience, looking at what neurodiversity actually means, some of the challenges neurodivergent people can experience, and why something as simple as getting outdoors, growing something or putting your hands in the soil can matter.

What made the evening particularly special was the conversation that followed. It wasn't just about delivering a presentation — people shared experiences, asked questions and genuinely engaged with the subject.

A huge thank you to everyone who welcomed us and took part in the discussion.

This is exactly why Fjords exists: bringing nature, community and neurodiversity together.

We're keen to deliver more talks and practical sessions with gardening clubs, community groups, schools, businesses and other organisations across the region.

If your organisation would like to hire us to come along and start an honest conversation, we'd love to hear from you. 😊
