Working towards raising funds to build a Viking Village and Longship in Kyle of Lochalsh. My name is Gordon McIntyre, some of you know me as Gordon the Viking. SkyeViking is the page for my Viking Project 'Na Lochlannaich' which translates as 'Vikings of Scotland'. I am attempting to construct a Viking Age Living History Village and Technology centre, where folk can not only visit and see

various traditional craft exhibitions and demonstrations but have the opportunity to take part in workshops and anything to do with the Vikings be it Weaving, Leatherwork, Woodturning and Carving, Jewellery and Weapon making and how to use them, village construction and eventually the building of a Longship :-)

Hello all, It's been a while since my last post.
I just want to let everyone know that the Kyle of Lochalsh Community Trust rejected my proposal to build a Viking Living History and Traditional Craft Skill Centre on the Plock in Kyle. They spent £60,000 on a feasibility study and decided it was not a viable project (all I required was the land, no money).
So after 4 1/2 years of waiting they binned my proposal.
However, they did employ someone to do 'Viking' crafts and have now confirmed planning and been awarded £361,000 to build a Viking Longhouse which will incorporate a Traditional Craft Centre, Heritage centre, focussing on (you guessed it) the Viking heritage and history of Lochalsh.
As you can imagine I'm not very happy about it.
Thank you for all your support and I will find an alternative location.
