Rowner Carnival
It was great to see the revival of the Rowner Carnival led by Tom Emery and his team of volunteers. Very well attended and the Samba Band were very vocal as usual. Good to see Pride in Place- Rowner with Kirsty Robertson and her team including Grange Ward Councillor Tony Jessop. Also Hampshire County Council Childrens Services were in attendance with Anna Matetcka giving out information regarding Family Hubs. Gosport MP Dame Caroline Dinenage and the Mayor of Gosport, Councillor Kirsten Bradley were also present.
I went and thanks the Police for their recent actions on Lee Seafront regarding noise and unsociable behaviour.
Next year will be even bigger said Tom who with his volunteers had put in a lot of work behind the scenes.

The Criterion. Report in The News following the P&O Board meeting on Wednesday 1st July.
This is word for word from The News reporter who was in attendance during the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Conservative for Lee East, Cllr Graham Burgess, said buying the Criterion is " the worst purchase the council has ever done". He criticised the cost of buying the building and the growing "add ons", saying: "They keep adding up to a sum that is unbelievable. We have to decide that that it has to go. We can't keep pouring money into this". The building has generated no income during council ownership but has already swallowed more that ยฃ1,000,000 of public money once fees, works, and ongoing bills are taken into account.
Speaking directly to Cllr Chegwyn, Cllr Burgess said: "You wasted millions of council taxpayers' money, you wasted our revenue. Residents in Gosport have suffered because of the decision you made to buy the Criterion".

Lee on the Solent Seafront.
Hanging Baskets along Marine Parade East & Marine Parade West.
Following my visit to the Town Hall this morning and speaking to Officers in Streetscene, I can confirm that Peter Chegwyn and his Lib Dem councillors removed the funding for the hanging baskets. As plants etc are ordered in advance, I believe his decision was made before the Budget in March this year.
So, not only has Lee on the Solent lost its funded Christmas Tree, due to Peter Chegwyn and his fellow councillors, it has also lost the much admired hanging baskets along our seafront.
What else will we find when we delve deeper into the finances at the Town Hall.

Would this help shops in Lee on the Solent. Let me know your thoughts.

Gosport Bus Service or sometimes lack of.
Today, I met with a Former Mayor of Fareham who has been heavily involved in transport for many years.
With the threat of losing the 9A Bus, I could not believe it. Originally there was just the 9 every 15 miutes. Then after the Rowner Regeneration project, supported by all parties, I asked it there could be the 9A. Instead of a 15 minute service it would be 30 minutes BUT cover much more of Rowner and Grange and Bridgemary. It seemed to work well for many years. Residents were pleased they did not have a long walk to get the bus.
I do not understand the logic of First Bus.
Please excuse the shirt.......................

Gosport Conservatives are going to work with all transport options and if then First Bus still refuse to reverse their decision, we can only assume they have a hidden agenda

I met with the Leader of Hampshire County Council on site in Lee on the Solent, to ask for one for Lee Junior School following a near miss recently. He told me they are recruiting, so if anyone is interested, let me know and I will pass your information to him.
