No matter how warm it gets this half-term, the best place to go for a swim is your local swimming pool.
Swimming in open water might seem like a nice way to cool-off, but it can be very dangerous due to the water being colder and deeper than people expect, with hidden currents and objects beneath the surface.
Most accidental drownings in the UK don't happen on the coast or at sea, but inland - in rivers, canals and lakes. And sadly, they start happening more frequently at this time of year, with children, teenagers and young men at most risk.
Our crews are as prepared as they can be for water rescues - you can help them by not taking risks around open water. https://orlo.uk/0Gmjb
