Can you help?

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward following a robbery at a petrol station in South Wigston yesterday (Monday 6 April).

Police were called to premises at the mini roundabout between Saffron Lane and Saffron Road just before 3.30pm following a report threats had been made to the cashier and money had been taken.

The cashier – a woman in her 20s – was not injured during the incident. The suspect left the petrol station on an e-scooter prior to police arriving.

Enquiries to establish whether a weapon was used during the incident is forming part of the ongoing investigation.

Detective Constable Billie-Jo Kent, the investigating officer, said: “Our enquiries into this incident are continuing and I believe there are people who can help.

“It happened in broad daylight in a busy area and I’d like to speak to anyone with information – particularly motorists with a dashcam, residents with a doorbell or CCTV camera or anyone who filmed the incident on their mobile phone.

“Anything you’re able to tell us, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could assist us.”

👉The Government’s consultation on the reorganisation of local government for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland closed yesterday.

There were three proposals to share views on and if you were able to take part – thank you!

Now it’s over to the Government who will make a final decision on what councils in our area should look like in the future.

We expect Government to make a final decision by the summer.
